Job Summary:
The Department of Wisdom Traditions seeks to hire one Academic support position for the Summer 2025 semester for the following course:
REL 749e A: Contemporary American Religion
This course explores the diversity of American religious life from numerous perspectives, providing students with the practical vocabulary to both understand and interact with the diversity of contemporary religious life. Students survey American religious communities (Christian, Muslim, Jewish, etc.) and examine specific beliefs, rituals, and liturgical practices and their application in crisis and transition situations - such as birth, marriage, illness, and death - which span the human life cycle. The class also provides hands-on opportunities for students to both visit local religious communities and learn from practitioners in these communities. This is a 3 credit online course.
Job Duties & Responsibilities
• Monitor and support Online class and online discussion forums.
• Support the faculty of record, as needed (e.g. respond to students in the discussion feed, offer feedback on writing assignments, facilitate discussions in the online classroom.)
• Complete any and all trainings as required by the Human Resources Office or the Office of Academic Affairs within the time period set for completion by those departments.
What We Require
• Master's degree in Religious Studies, Master of Divinity, or a related field.
• One to two years of teaching experience - either as a graduate assistant or teaching assistant - is preferred. Equivalent experience will be considered.

• All job candidates must demonstrate an appropriate level of understanding of and appreciation for the values of Naropa University and the capacity to demonstrate an integration and embodiment of these values as evidenced in work, communication, collaboration styles, and other general workplace behaviors.

• Graduate of Naropa's MDiv or MA Religious Studies program
Physical Requirements & Environmental Conditions
• Academic Support members spend most of their time in their classrooms or in virtual meetings with some time in offices. As a faculty member, you may spend extended periods in front of students and speaking as well as:
• Reading academic texts and materials, student papers, etc.
• Operating personal computer and audio-visual equipment.
• Sitting for hours at a time.
Naropa recognizes the following holidays throughout the year: Martin Luther King, Jr. Day, Memorial Day, Juneteenth, Independence Day, Labor Day, Fall Break, 4th Thursday and Friday in November, and Winter Break, the last two weeks in December encompassing the Christmas holiday as well as New Year's.
