General Summary
Provides services and support to students enrolled in EMU’s College Support Program (CSP) for students with autism spectrum disorder (ASD). Coaches have specialized knowledge and expertise in a particular area, such as supporting people with developmental disabilities. This position is responsible for assessing student needs, implementing and reviewing individualized support plans, and working with other campus resources in meeting/achieving student service needs.
Principal Duties and Responsibilities
Minimum Qualifications:
Knowledge of ASD typically acquired through the completion of a bachelor’s degree is required.
Experience working with adults with Autism Spectrum Disorders is required.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills and documentation skills are required.
Ability to establish rapport with students and families is required.
Ability to maintain confidentiality and discretion at all levels is required.
Ability to work in a variety of settings with culturally-diverse families and communities.
Preferred Qualifications:
A master’s degree in one of the following fields is preferred: Special Education / Education, Social Work, Mental Health and Clinical Counseling, Psychology.
Knowledge of EMU resources is preferred.
