Arizona State University is seeking an Academic Advisor 1 to provide direct undergraduate student support at the Downtown Phoenix campus and across ASU campuses. You will guide students through degree options, monitor progress, and connect them with tutoring, counseling, and career services.

This role offers hybrid work after training and requires a Bachelor's degree or equivalent and strong communication skills to help students achieve timely degree completion.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree; OR an equivalent combination of experience and/or training.
  • Experience in higher education advising or student services is preferred.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills with diverse student populations.
  • Ability to use advising technologies and CRM platforms to support student success.

Responsibilities

  • Provide 1:1 and group academic advising to undergraduate students.
  • Serve as instructor for ASU 101-NU sections.
  • Identify students needing escalated support and coordinate with student engagement teams.
  • Assist with recruitment and student engagement initiatives.
  • Monitor student progress and help plan degree completion paths.
  • Utilize eAdvisor, Salesforce, DARS, and other platforms to assist course registration and progress.
  • Connect students with tutoring, counseling, and career services.
  • Contribute to Edson College activities and events.

Utilizes a wide range of software, student development theory, and retention-focused strategies. Working under direct supervision to support students by performing specific, articulated goals and outcomes**Job Description:**The primary location for this position is at the Downtown Phoenix campus, however, advisors may be asked to staff offices at any one of our campuses of operation (Downtown Phoenix, West, or Polytechnic) and may support students pursuing their education online or at one of our immersion campus locations.This position is eligible for hybrid work after a training period. Hybrid work is an arrangement where employees spend a minimum of 60% of their regular workweek at their primary ASU work location. This position is not fully remote.**Salary Range**: $51,250 - $58,000, DOE**Essential Duties:*** Provides 1:1 student advising as well as group academic advising.* Serve as primary instructor to multiple sections of ASU 101-NU.* Identifies students who need escalated support and outreach and works collaboratively with the student engagement team and leadership to support the student.* Supports advising functions as well as recruitment and student engagement initiatives.* Monitors student progress to ensure ongoing successful progress.* Utilizes eAdvisor, Salesforce, DARS, text, email, and other technology platforms to assist students with exploring a variety of academic options, register for courses and make timely progress towards completion of degree.* Works closely with students to identify all academic options including, but not limited to: degrees, extracurricular activities, study abroad program(s), research, and internships; supports and provides counsel to students in selection of options best suited to student's goals, interests and skills.* Responds quickly to student questions and concerns; works with students to resolve concerns and escalations and assist with providing a pathway to successful program completion.* Serves as primary liaison by connecting students with academic and personal resources including but not limited to: tutoring, counseling and career services; provides follow up to ensure satisfaction with and effectiveness of services.* Participates as a volunteer or attendee to support Edson College focused activities and events, including recruitment and student engagement events.* Use office equipment.* Use critical thinking to make decisions and/or analyze and report data.* Deliver presentations and engage with student groups.* Regular activities require ability to quickly change priorities which may include and/or are subject to resolution of conflicts.* Performs other duties as assigned.**Desired Qualifications*** Evidence of a completed Master's degree.* Experience working with students in higher education/college level academic advising.* Experience teaching, preferably in secondary education or higher.* Experience in being collaborative, having a positive outlook, and being flexible.* Experience in using problem solving, critical thinking, and time management skills; and having to rapidly adapt and effectively utilize new technology, practices and policies.* Experience in offering service-excellence focused services that prioritize the success of student.* Experience working with undergraduate students and providing student success services utilizing online platforms (zoom, slack, text, email).* Experience in using: Student information computer system and other advising technology (i.e.PeopleSoft, DARs, online appointment scheduling, eAdvisor).* Experience using: CRM (i.e. Salesforce).* Demonstrated knowledge of ASU's academic structure and organization; academic programs, colleges, and departments university-wide.* Ability to clearly communicate to perform essential functions.* Use of basic math and a calculator.* Ability to use telephone, computer (monitor, keyboard, and mouse), printer, fax, and copier.**Working Environment*** Activities are performed in an environmentally controlled office setting subject to extended periods of sitting, keyboarding and manipulating a computer mouse.* Frequent physical demands may include stooping, bending, crawling under/around objects, reaching, lifting and pushing objects of varying weights up to 20 pounds (light).* Required to stand for varying lengths of time and walk moderate distances to perform work.* May be required to perform tasks in the field within and/or across University campuses.* Will be required to travel (for events, between campuses).* Hybrid work schedule.* Position may involve shared offices/space.* This position is full-time, and the incumbent must be available Monday - Friday, 8am-5pm.* The primary work location is the Downtown campus, but a presence on other campuses or at off-campus locations may be required.**Department Statement:**The Edson College of Nursing and Health Innovation is distinguished as a model for excellence and inspiration in nursing and interprofessional practice, education and research to advance knowledge and innovative practice models, and new solutions to optimize the health and well-being of our local, national and global communities.**Driving Requirement:**Driving is not required for this position.**Location:**Campus: Downtown Phoenix**Funding:**No Federal Funding**Instructions to Apply:**Current employees, student workers seeking staff opportunities, and students applying for student worker positions must apply directly through the .To be considered, your application must include all of the following attachments:* Cover letter* Resume or CVMultiple documents may be uploaded in the attachments section.
