Academic Specialists in OB/GYN and OB/GYN Hospitalists

The Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology in Joe R. and Teresa Lozano Long School of Medicine at UT Health San Antonio is seeking Board Certified or Board Eligible General Obstetrician-Gynecologists to join our highly productive, growing team of academic specialists in OB/GYN and subspecialists. We are recruiting for OB/GYN Academic Specialists, Outpatient OB/GYN Clinicians and OB/GYN Hospitalist Faculty positions.

Qualifications

• MD or DO with Texas medical licensure (or eligibility)
• Board Certified or Board Eligible in Obstetrics & Gynecology (Hospitalist roles require Board Certification)
• BLS certification
• Experience in obstetrics and gynecology
• Boardeligible applicants are expected to obtain Board Certification within 12 months of hire.

Academic Specialists in General OB/GYN

We are seeking motivated and energetic Generalists to support our expanding clinical services. Our clinical volumes continue to grow, and we are looking for faculty who are eager to grow with the department.

Responsibilities

• Inpatient and outpatient obstetrics and gynecology care
• Education of medical students, residents, and fellows
• Participation in the department’s research mission
• Participation in the Labor & Delivery call team (up to 3 overnight/weekend onsite calls per month)

Outpatient OB/GYN Clinician

As an OB/GYN outpatient clinical specialist, you will maintain a varied outpatient practice that includes both routine and complex care, including primary and preventative women's health care, routine and high-risk prenatal care, post-partum care, and complex gynecologic care including access to in-office procedures. This position will not include any inpatient care, call responsibilities, nor weekends. Both full-time and part-time positions are available. Our department benefits from comprehensive subspecialty care including urogynecology, reproductive endocrinology, gynecologic oncology, and maternal fetal medicine so that you can focus on providing exceptional care without working in isolation. Our clinics exist within a robust health system offering integrated comprehensive specialty care to meet patients' diverse health needs.

OB/GYN Hospitalist

We are also recruiting OB/GYN Hospitalists to support the University Hospital Palo Alto and University Hospital Main Campus locations.

Responsibilities

• Management of labor and delivery
• Consultation on inpatient and ED gynecologic patients
• Oversight of OB/GYN emergencies
• Gynecologic surgical cases
• Participation in educational opportunities
• Hospitalists typically work 14–15 shifts per month, generally 12 hours each; some 24‑hour shifts may be scheduled based on departmental needs.
• Anticipated initial delivery volume is approximately 1,000 annually at the Palo Alto Location and 5,500 at the main University Hospital.
