Qualifications

• Experience utilizing student success data, assessment results, and institutional research to inform strategic planning, decision-making, and continuous improvement efforts.
• Knowledge of current higher education trends, student development theory, strengths-based practices, and best practices in supporting student belonging and engagement.
• Experience working within federally funded, state-funded, opportunity, access, bridge, or retention programs such as SEEK, EOP, HEOP, TRIO, College Discovery, ASAP, or similar student support programs.

Responsibilities

• Provide strategic leadership and vision for the SEEK Program at City Tech, ensuring alignment with institutional priorities, enrollment goals, retention initiatives, and the College’s commitment to student access and success.
• Develop and strengthen a student-centered SEEK program model that supports students throughout the student lifecycle, from recruitment and transition to college through persistence and graduation.
• Collaborate with Academic Affairs, Enrollment Management and Student Affairs, faculty, academic departments, and campus partners to enhance academic support services, student engagement opportunities, and retention strategies for SEEK students.
• Establish and maintain partnerships with campus offices, including academic advising, tutoring and learning centers, career services, financial aid, counseling and wellness services, and other student support areas to ensure SEEK students receive coordinated and holistic support.
• Lead the planning, implementation, and assessment of SEEK Summer Program including but not limited to academic preparation, orientation activities, workshops, and transition support for incoming SEEK students.
• Support recruitment, admissions, and onboarding efforts by collaborating with Admissions, Financial Aid, and campus stakeholders to identify, enroll, and support eligible SEEK students.
• Develop assessment strategies to evaluate SEEK program effectiveness, student learning outcomes, retention, persistence, and graduation outcomes; use findings to inform continuous improvement efforts.
• Ensure compliance with CUNY, New York State Education Department, and other applicable regulations governing opportunity programs while maintaining accurate program records and documentation.
• Provide leadership and professional development opportunities for SEEK staff, fostering a culture of accountability, innovation, collaboration, and continuous improvement.
• Develop and maintain relationships with external partners, community organizations, and educational access programs to strengthen pathways and resources available to SEEK students.
• Represent the SEEK Program on campus committees and initiatives focused on student success, equity, access, retention, and completion.
• Contribute to division-wide enrollment management and student affairs initiatives that advance student belonging, engagement, and success.

The Percy Ellis Sutton Search for Education, Elevation and Knowledge (SEEK) Program at City Tech invites applications for a student-focused and innovative leader to serve as the Academic SEEK Program Director.

The Percy Ellis Sutton SEEK (Search for Education, Elevation, and Knowledge) Program is CUNY's higher education opportunity program designed to assist high-potential, low-income students who otherwise might not be able to pursue a college degree because they are not academically well-prepared for college-level work. The program provides educational support, academic advisement, and counseling assistance, all of which are aimed at strengthening students' basic skills, bolstering their academic success in all levels of college courses, and maximizing their retention and persistence through to graduation.

Reporting To The Assistant Vice President Of Student Affairs, In Addition To The CUNY Title Overview The Academic SEEK Program Director Will Be Expected To

QUALIFICATIONS

Minimum Qualifications:

Bachelor's Degree and eight years' relevant experience required.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

• Master's degree in Higher Education Administration, Student Affairs, Counseling, Social Work, Education, or a related field.
• Demonstrated experience leading student success, retention, persistence, and graduation initiatives for diverse student populations, including first-generation, low-income, and historically underserved students.
• Experience developing and implementing innovative, evidence-based programs and services that support student achievement and holistic student development.
• Experience utilizing student success data, assessment results, and institutional research to inform strategic planning, decision-making, and continuous improvement efforts.
• Knowledge of current higher education trends, student development theory, strengths-based practices, and best practices in supporting student belonging and engagement.
• Experience working within federally funded, state-funded, opportunity, access, bridge, or retention programs such as SEEK, EOP, HEOP, TRIO, College Discovery, ASAP, or similar student support programs.

CUNY TITLE OVERVIEW

Directs campus SEEK program operations. SEEK (Search for Education, Elevation, and Knowledge) is a higher education opportunity program established at the senior CUNY colleges to provide comprehensive academic support to assist capable students who otherwise might not be able to attend college.

• Designs, implements and monitors a comprehensive program of academic services for eligible students
• In collaboration with academic departments, develops supplemental instruction and other initiatives to ensure equality of higher education opportunity
• Facilitates course scheduling and provision of support services to summer immersion SEEK students
• Manages program budget; writes grant proposals and acquires funding to support the development of new offerings and services
• Conducts ongoing assessment of SEEK support functions to improve upon service delivery
• Serves as advocate and representative for SEEK students from admission to graduation
• Manages professional and support staff

COMPENSATION AND BENEFITS

$118,070 - $136,546. Salary commensurate with education and experience.

CUNY is in the process of implementing salary schedule increases. Once implemented, salaries of eligible employees will be adjusted by 3.5% effective 9/1/26, in accordance with the terms of the PSC-CUNY collective bargaining agreement.
