Job summary

Walden University is seeking an Academic Coordinator, a full-time faculty member, reporting to an Associate Dean I. You will collaborate with School and College staff to resolve academic and student issues and mentor faculty within your specialty.

You will lead faculty meetings, stay current with industry standards, and support continuous improvement of MSN-SP programs while fostering a collaborative, inclusive learning environment for adult learners.

Qualifications

  • Doctorate degree in the relevant discipline and area. Specialty certification and relevant work experience within the specialty required.
  • Three to five years teaching experience at the graduate level required. Online teaching experience preferred.
  • Ability to mentor and motivate adult learners in distance education.
  • Commitment to advocating for the learning and development needs of students earning their degrees in a distance learning environment.
  • Ability to work with adult learners with variable skill levels, diverse learning styles and backgrounds.

Responsibilities

  • Serve as a subject matter expert and mentor of designated specialty.
  • Stay current in specialty industry trends and standards; maintain network of industry leaders to support an informed curriculum within the specialty.
  • Manage faculty within assigned specialty; mentor and coach faculty, monitoring faculty performance to meet University and College of Nursing requirements.
  • Lead faculty meetings within specialty for both full-time and adjunct faculty, ensuring faculty are up to date with University and College of Nursing changes. Facilitate a team environment within the specialty, encouraging open communication and shared governance.
  • Build rapport and maintain frequent communication with both full-time and adjunct faculty within the specialty.
  • Respond to and investigate student concerns, documenting progress and outcome in appropriate platforms.
  • Interview, hire, and manage onboarding of new faculty; keep updated shared record of current faculty (FT and adjunct).
  • Support an atmosphere of innovation and best practices, helping to lead MSN specialty program quality improvement. Serve as a change leader within the MSN-SP programs.

Qualifications

Additional Information

In support of the pay transparency laws enacted across the country, the expected salary range for this position is between $70,696.34 and $110,957.05. Actual pay will be adjusted based on job-related factors permitted by law, such as experience and training; geographic location; licensure and certifications; market factors; departmental budgets; and responsibility.
