Job summary

SIU Medicine in Springfield, IL seeks a full-time academic pediatric pulmonologist to provide direct patient care and teach medical students and residents within the Pediatric Pulmonology program.

The role includes supervising rotations, developing curricula, conducting rounds and conferences, and directing the CF clinic, with ongoing participation in quality improvement and educational initiatives.

Qualifications

• Graduate of accredited medical school program.
• Successful completion of an approved pediatric residency.
• Eligible for Illinois medical licensure.
• Board eligibility in Pediatric Pulmonology by ABP.
• Commitment to teaching, service, and/or research.
• Sensitivity to needs of underrepresented populations.

Responsibilities

• Teach medical students and residents on inpatient and outpatient pediatric pulmonary services.
• Supervise, evaluate, and provide feedback to students and house staff.
• Develop and update curricula and elective opportunities for learners.
• Maintain an outpatient pediatric pulmonary practice with procedures as appropriate.
• Lead quality improvement initiatives and participate in departmental meetings.
• Direct the pediatric cystic fibrosis clinic and participate in related programs.
