Job summary

The University of Washington Health System seeks Academic Obstetrics and Gynecology Hospitalists to join UW Medical Center campuses and Seattle Children’s Hospital Special Delivery Unit at the rank of Clinical Assistant Professor. Positions are full-time or part-time, 12‑month appointments with a July 1, 2026 start.

Clinical duties include OB triage, labor and delivery coverage, inpatient antepartum/postpartum care, cesarean and vaginal deliveries, and collaboration with maternal-fetal medicine.

Qualifications

• MD or DO degree or foreign equivalent.
• Board eligibility/certification in Obstetrics and Gynecology, and an excellent record of clinical service.
• Two years of work experience preferred; however, new Ob/Gyn residency graduates and hospitalist fellowship graduates with academic career interests will be considered.
• Gynecologic surgical proficiency required. Robotic experience is not necessary.
• All candidates must be eligible for and able to maintain a Washington State medical license.

Responsibilities

• Evaluation of patients in OB triage.
• Consultation and surgical coverage for family medicine and midwifery colleagues on labor and delivery.
• Direct inpatient care on the antepartum and postpartum services.
• Labor management, primary or assistant surgeon in cesarean sections, operative and spontaneous vaginal deliveries.
• Consultation and surgical management for the Northwest Emergency Department.
• In-hospital coverage at SCH when there is a patient in house.
• Fetal MFM and pediatric surgery on back-up home call (immediate availability within 30 minutes).
• Monitoring vitals and managing obstetric complications with Fetal Team input.
• Attend monthly Division meetings and departmental Grand Rounds and M&M Conference.
