Job summary

Mayo Clinic in Rochester, Minnesota seeks an Academic Nocturnist for the Division of Hospital Internal Medicine to primarily admit patients. The Nocturnist will have no triaging responsibilities while admitting and limited cross-coverage on certain campuses, handling about 30–40 patients per shift with an average of 4 admissions.

Preferred candidates have a track record in medical education or research and board certification in Internal Medicine.

Qualifications

• MD, DO or foreign degree equivalent and board certified in Internal Medicine.
• Minnesota medical license or eligibility.
• Prior hospital medicine experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• The Nocturnist is primarily responsible for patient admissions.
• No triaging responsibilities while admitting.
• No cross-coverage responsibilities while admitting at the Saint Mary's campus.
• Cross-cover limited to three services (30-40 patients) when admitting at the Rochester Methodist campus.
• The average number of admissions per shift is 4.
• May perform Medical Officer of the Day (MOD) role for triaging transfer requests from Mayo Clinic Health System hospitals and other hospitals.
