Description

Emory University

Department of Pathology & Laboratory Medicine

Academic Neuropathologist

The Emory University Department of Pathology and Laboratory Medicine is seeking a non-tenure track neuropathologist at the rank of Assistant, Associate, or Full Professor. The successful candidate will join a diverse and collegial group of faculty who evaluate over 1000 surgical neuropathology cases and over 75 autopsy brains each year and contribute to the academic mission of the department by providing excellent clinical care, educating our residents and fellows, and performing original and collaborative research. Candidates must be board-certified or board-eligible in Anatomic Pathology and Neuropathology, and eligible for medical licensure in Georgia. Clinical expertise in adult surgical neuropathology and autopsy neuropathology is required. Expertise in molecular neuropathology, neuromuscular disorders, neurodegenerative diseases, and/or ocular pathology is desired. Special consideration will be given to applicants with a history of, or potential for, implementing and growing an NIH-funded research program.

Emory's Department of Pathology and Laboratory Medicine has one of the largest AP/CP residencies in the country, 13 accredited subspecialty fellowships (including two neuropathology fellowship positions), advanced molecular diagnostic capabilities, and close ties to Emory’s Center for Neurodegenerative Disease and Emory's Winship Cancer Institute (an NCI-designated Comprehensive Cancer Center). The Department has a very active Experimental Pathology division, and is currently one of the Top-5 Pathology programs in the country in terms of NIH funding. Thus, the opportunities for clinical and translational scholarship and teaching are abundant (see www.pathology.emory.edu). Compensation and faculty rank will be commensurate with qualifications. If interested please complete the online application and include your CV, cover letter and list of references.
