Job summary

University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill in Chapel Hill seeks an academic Nephropathologist for a tenure-track/tenured, or variable-track faculty position at Assistant, Associate, or Full Professor. The successful candidate will join our nephropathology team to support our established outreach kidney biopsy service, UNC Nephropathology, and related NIH-funded renal disease research programs.

Teaching opportunities are available in the School of Medicine and Graduate School.

Qualifications

  • MD or comparable degree.
  • Board-certified or board-eligible in Anatomic Pathology.
  • Fellowship training in nephropathology.
  • Eligible to obtain a medical license in North Carolina.

Responsibilities

  • Support our Nephropathology program and outreach kidney biopsy service.
  • Contribute to research and teaching in the School of Medicine and Graduate School.

Job description

Position Summary

The Department of Pathology and Laboratory Medicine, University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, is seeking an academic Nephropathologist for a tenure‑track/tenured, fixed‑term, or variable‑track position at the rank of Assistant, Associate, or Full Professor. The successful candidate will join our current nephropathologists to support our Nephropathology program, which includes an established outreach kidney biopsy service. UNC Nephropathology is a distinguished laboratory providing technical services for all medical renal cases at UNC Medical Center, other UNC Health entities, and beyond. The University offers extensive opportunities for research and scholarship in medical renal disease, dynamic Nephrology and Kidney Transplant programs, and the UNC Kidney Center that coordinates a wide spectrum of kidney disease research, including multiple ongoing NIH‑funded consortia. Teaching opportunities are available in the School of Medicine and the Graduate School.

Minimum Education and Experience Requirements

• MD or comparable degree.
• Board‑certified or board‑eligible in Anatomic Pathology.
• Fellowship training and/or service experience in nephropathology.
• Eligible to obtain a medical license in North Carolina.

Preferred Qualifications

Applicants interested in minor clinical service work in one of our other surgical pathology subspecialties will also be considered.
