Job summary

South Texas College is seeking a Student Learning Assistant to provide academic learning support, tutor students, and assist with daily operations of the Centers for Learning Excellence. You will work in the center and online, preparing workshops and materials to boost understanding.

The role requires a high school diploma or GED, plus coursework or a certificate. Strong communication skills, computer proficiency, and the ability to work independently or in a team are essential.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required; college certificate or 30 college hours preferred.
• Demonstrated mastery of sufficient coursework with a B or higher, preferably an A.
• Excellent oral, written, presentation, and interpersonal communication skills.
• Strong computer skills with Microsoft Office and internet research.

Responsibilities

• Provides educational assistance to students in specific disciplines to improve understanding and comprehension.
• Assists in preparation of workshops and materials to enhance student comprehension.
• Integrates study strategy techniques with course content.
• Provides individual and group instruction including distance learning formats.
• Keeps regular and accurate records using required software and forms.
• Promotes and presents information about academic support services and resources.
• Acts as liaison with faculty and staff to support student success as directed.
• Participates in required departmental training, workshops, and meetings.
• Performs other duties as assigned.
