CREDENTIALS: Current Tennessee Licensure
OTHER QUALIFICATIONS: Experience as a classroom teacher; experience in curriculum development, textbook selection, and committee work. Must relate well to children and teachers. Must have a cooperative, helpful attitude toward people; be confidential, be highly organized and productive; computer literate; good verbal and written communication skills and outstanding teaching skills. Must be able to follow and give directions, demonstrate skills in group dynamics and creative problem solving. Must be dedicated to quality education and the well-being of children. Master's Degree preferred. Must have at least five years of teaching experience at the primary grade levels.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS: Must have and maintain physical, sensory, emotional, and mental abilities necessary for effective communication in person, in writing, and by telephone. Must have good memory; be able to organize thoughts and activities; do basic mathematical computations and articulate clearly. Must be able to work occasional nights and weekends, participate in occasional overnight travel and provide own transportation during performance of duty.
PRIMARY DUTIES: The Academic Interventionist's primary responsibility is working in small groups with children identified as at-risk in Reading and Math. The Academic Interventionist will also work closely with the building administration and faculty, as well as parents to support the program for children.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:
STAFF RELATIONSHIP: Reports directly to the building principal.
TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT: Ten (10) months, salary set annually. Exempt.
