Job summary

Alpha Public Schools in East San José is hiring Academic Interventionists to support scholars in TK-12 through targeted, small-group pullouts, data-driven progress, and behavior supports. You will work under the lead teacher to implement interventions and track student growth in collaboration with families and school teams.

Requirements include a HS diploma or GED (AA degree preferred) and at least 1 year of experience with students.

Qualifications

• HS Diploma or GED is required; AA degree preferred.
• OR completion of two years of college (72 quarter hours / 48 semester hours).
• Minimum 1+ years of experience working with students.
• Strong knowledge of child development and educational practices.
• Commitment to serving students in underserved communities.

Responsibilities

• Schedule and execute small group instructional pullouts for learners in the classroom or grade level assigned.
• Analyze data and conduct assessments to track student intervention progress and make informed decisions.
• Support establishing and maintaining standards of student behavior for a productive learning environment during class sessions.
• Execute classroom management plan, behavior intervention plans, and incentive systems in collaborations with lead teacher.

Alpha Academic Interventionists are expected to:

• High behavioral expectations and academic expectations for all students
• 1+ years experience working with students
• Excellent knowledge of child development and educational practices (preferred)
• A commitment to working with students in traditionally underserved communities. Approximately 80% of Alpha’s students are from under-resourced communities and will be the first in their families to go to college. The majority of our students are Latinx and/or Vietnamese.
