Job summary

Responsibilities include planning instruction, assessing progress, maintaining records, and participating in district meetings and professional development opportunities.

Qualifications

• Highly qualified with required competency in the content area.
• Massachusetts Department of Elementary and Secondary Education licensure for the appropriate grade level.
• Bachelor's degree with appropriate license, or Master's degree with license preferred within 5 years.

Responsibilities

• Meets and instructs assigned classes in the locations and at times designated.
• Plans a program of study that meets individual needs, interests, and abilities of the students.
• Creates a classroom environment conducive to learning and appropriate to the maturity and interests of the students.
• Guides learning toward district curriculum goals and communicates clear objectives for lessons, units, and projects.
• Prepares for classes assigned and shows written evidence of preparation as required by contract.
• Employs a variety of instructional techniques and media to meet student needs.
• Assesses student progress regularly and communicates with parents as needed.
• Maintains accurate records as required by law and policy.
• Diagnoses learning challenges and seeks district specialists as required.
