Academic Instructor (GED, High School Diploma or Math)

Position Overview

Glenmont Job Corps invites NYS certified teachers to serve as Academic Instructor, teaching students in the Career Education Center. In this role, you will provide instruction, develop achievement plans, and collaborate with CTT instructors to embed applied academics into curricula. You will also maintain confidentiality, manage data integrity, and support student progress toward GED/HSD completion.

Schedule

Monday‑Friday 7:45 am - 4:45 pm

Salary

$62,000 annually

Responsibilities

• Follow all integrity guidelines and procedures, ensuring no manipulation of student data.
• Ensure the Center meets or exceeds DOL/Company performance goals.
• Provide academic training that leads to GED/HSD completion, improved literacy, and numeracy skills.
• Offer individualized case management to ensure student progress and program completion.
• Maintain a well‑organized classroom conducive to learning and enforce dress code/behavioral standards.
• Produce quality work and assignments accurately and on time.
• Meet attendance, accountability, and productivity standards.
• Plan, prioritize, and organize assignments to meet goals and deadlines.
• Apply job knowledge to complete all required duties, proactively maintaining necessary skills.
• Mentor and model Career Success Standards as required by PRH.
• Provide high‑quality supervision and management of the student population, positively influencing behavior.
• Deliver high‑quality programs and services, ensuring student needs are met and continuously improving offerings.
• Communicate clearly, contribute ideas, and provide timely information to DOL/Company.
• Identify problems, analyze causes, evaluate solutions, and ensure corrective actions are taken.
• Partner with staff from all departments to deliver effective supervision and services.
• Accept direction from the Center Director / Center Duty Officer / Shift Manager, including temporary assignment of other duties as needed.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
