Job summary

Specialized Education Services, Inc. is seeking an Academic/IEP Coordinator to lead curriculum development, provide instructional coaching, and manage IEP-related activities across campuses. You will collaborate with educators, administrators, and district partners to improve student outcomes and alignment with standards.

The role includes professional development, data analysis of student performance, and coordination of resources to support teachers and special education programs.

Qualifications

  • Current SPED Teaching license.
  • Experience working with similar population in a school setting preferred.
  • Experience working with staff in a coaching capacity.
  • Strong professional communication skills both oral and written.
  • Ability to record and analyze data utilizing Excel and Google Drive.

The Opportunity

The Academic/IEP Coordinator is responsible for developing, implementing, and evaluating instructional programs and initiatives to enhance student learning outcomes, as well as IEP Case Management. This role involves collaborating with educators, administrators, and other stakeholders to ensure curriculum alignment with educational standards and to support effective instructional practices. The Academic/IEP Coordinator will provide professional development, instructional coaching, and resources to teachers to improve instructional quality and student achievement.

Responsibilities
Curriculum Development and Implementation
  • Design, develop, and revise curriculum materials to align with state standards and educational best practices.
  • Collaborate with teachers and subject matter experts to integrate new instructional strategies and resources.
  • Ensure curriculum materials are culturally responsive and inclusive.
Instructional Support and Coaching
  • Provide one-on-one and group coaching to teachers to enhance instructional practices.
  • Model effective teaching strategies and use of instructional technology in classrooms.
  • Observe classroom instruction and provide constructive feedback to educators.
  • Supervising a cohort of certified admin
Professional Development
  • Plan, organize, and facilitate professional development workshops and training sessions.
  • Stay current with educational research and trends to inform professional development content.
  • Evaluate the effectiveness of professional development programs and make necessary adjustments.
Assessment and Data Analysis
  • Assist in the development and implementation of assessment tools to measure student learning and program effectiveness.
  • Analyze student performance data to identify trends, gaps, and areas for improvement.
  • Work with teachers to use data to inform instructional planning and decision-making.
Collaboration and Communication
  • Collaborate with school administrators, teachers, and other stakeholders to support school improvement initiatives.
  • Serve as a liaison between the school and district offices, ensuring alignment of goals and resources.
  • Communicate effectively with parents, community members, and other external partners.
Resource Management
  • Develop and maintain a repository of instructional resources and materials.
  • Provide guidance on the selection and use of instructional materials and technologies.
  • Manage budget allocations for instructional programs and resources.
IEP Case Management
  • Work closely with classroom staff to coordinate, manage, assess needs and determine student assignment in regards to special education programs
  • Assist Principal with recruiting, interviewing and on-boarding new campus staff members
  • Develop and implement transition planning and services/Indicator 13
  • Maintain IEP database and student file scan database
  • Conduct and ensure completion of state testing
  • Prepare and attend students’ IEP meetings, assure documentation is accurately completed prior to the meeting and provide on-going monitoring to ensure ISBE compliance of students’ IEPs
  • Plan and implement staff and parent education relating to special education programs
  • Maintains close working relationship with school district, parents and community
  • Provide and monitor crisis intervention at the school
  • Organize, plan and deliver training for professional development and staff meetings
  • Actively participate in Education Committee meetings and relay information to the resource team

Posted Salary Range

USD $65,000.00 - USD $70,000.00 /Yr.
