Departmental Overview

The Physics Department is the largest in the L&S Division of Mathematical and Physical Sciences, ranked among the top physics departments worldwide. It has 80 faculty, 60 staff, and 300 teaching and research personnel, serving 250 graduate students, 250 undergraduates, and over 7,000 course students. The department conducts world-class research in collaboration with facilities like Lawrence Berkeley National Lab and manages extensive facilities and research centers.

The department's administrative operations are led by a Director of Administration and functional managers overseeing various units. The Academic HR Analyst supports academic personnel activities, including recruitment, appointment, benefits, and faculty welfare. This is a 1-year, 50% FTE contract position with the possibility of extension.

Application Review Date

The first review date is May 20, 2025. The position remains open until filled.

Responsibilities
  • 40% Manage full-cycle academic personnel activities for faculty and instructors, including review case preparation, data integration, and policy administration.
  • 30% Support faculty appointment processes, including search coordination and candidate visit arrangements.
  • 15% Provide support to the Department Chair, including correspondence, meeting support, and calendar management.
  • 10% Manage faculty records, including digitization, compliance tracking, and award activities.
  • 5% Attend faculty meetings and prepare related materials.
Required Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience.
  • Thorough knowledge of academic HR policies, organization, and goals.
  • Ability to analyze complex issues, communicate effectively, and maintain confidentiality.
Salary & Benefits

This is a 1-year, 50% FTE contract with a possibility of extension.
