Additional Job Description
West Virginia University School of Medicine and the Department of Medicine seek Gastroenterologists (ranks available: Assistant Professor, Associate Professor, or Professor). Successful candidates will be expected to practice in Morgantown, WV and Fairmont, WV.
Duties: The successful candidate will practice in the areas of gastroenterology and hepatology. In addition to providing excellent patient care, the successful candidate will also be actively involved in teaching medical students, residents, and fellows.
Qualifications: Candidates must have an MD or DO degree or foreign equivalent and be eligible for state medical license. Candidates must have completed an accredited internal medicine residency program and gastroenterology fellowship and be board eligible/board certified in gastroenterology and hepatology. All qualifications must be met by the time of appointment.
Our GI and Hepatology service line of professionals offer a complete range of diagnostic and therapeutic procedures, treats a medically diverse population, and has exposure to clinically challenging cases. We have a new and expanding endoscopy center including state-of-the-art suites for advanced procedures and ERCPs, as well as close access to adjacent specialty clinics.
Tremendous institutional support for academic pursuits particularly pertaining to chronic viral hepatitis and inflammatory bowel disease is available. We offer treatment to those in West Virginia as well as patients from five border states.
There is a culture of professionalism and cooperation within the Department of Medicine. The growing Section of Digestive Diseases offers opportunities to build and design programs within a large referral academic center.
