Job summary

Michigan Medicine is seeking an experienced Endpoint Systems Engineer to join the HITS Academic IT division. You will report to the Manager of the HITS Academic Compute, Systems, and Devices teams and help design and maintain robust solutions for MM faculty and staff working on innovative research projects.

You will collaborate with researchers and educators to align needs with existing services, develop automation using scripting, and support Windows and Linux systems across the campus data

Qualifications

• Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science or a related field, or equivalent experience.
• 3–5 years of systems analysis or programming activities in a professional setting.

Responsibilities

• Provide operational and production support for research and education systems.
• Diagnose and resolve technology problems and workflow challenges in research systems.
• Install, configure, and troubleshoot Windows and Linux operating systems on research/education systems.
• Develop and deliver end-user training to shift workflows to datacenters or shared clusters.
• Partner with vendors to seek solutions to proprietary issues.
• Participate in governance, projects, and cross-functional workgroups.
• Maintain OS and application patching to meet security standards.
• Identify, assess, and remediate security vulnerabilities within SLAs.
• Conduct routine vulnerability scanning and remediation for supported devices.
• Work with researchers to support vendor-supplied systems with proper security controls.
• Collaborate with Information Assurance and vendors to assess findings and implement mitigations.
• Guide researchers on secure computing practices and risk mitigation.
• Understand academic workflows and provide creative IT solutions.

Education

Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science or a related field
