Academic Diagnostic Cardiologist
The Division of Cardiology at Penn State Health Milton S. Hershey Medical Center/ Penn State College of Medicine is seeking an academic faculty cardiologist to join our growing Penn State Heart & Vascular Institute in Hershey, Pennsylvania. The Cardiology Division has 40 faculty members with advanced practice providers as part of the integrated Heart & Vascular Institute which includes cardiac and vascular surgery.
Successful candidates will be board certified/ board eligible in Cardiovascular Disease and will have completed an ACGME approved residency and fellowship. In addition, candidates should have experience in general cardiology and cardiac imaging and a strong interest in practicing in an academic hospital setting. Applicants must be eligible for medical licensure in Pennsylvania. As the cardiology division represents a component of the unique Heart & Vascular Institute, collaborative multidisciplinary research initiatives are facilitated.
This non-invasive cardiology position will involve a balance of inpatient and outpatient work with equitable on-call coverage responsibilities compared to our current faculty. The successful candidate will manage a full spectrum of cardiology patients except for advanced heart failure and transplant patients, for which there is a separate robust service. There is also a Heart & Vascular Intensive Care Unit where patients are co-managed with intensivists in our Institute.
As faculty members employed by Penn State Health Milton S. Hershey Medical Center, qualified candidates will be involved in clinical and academic activity. Successful candidates will be skilled and enthusiastic teachers as our inpatient teams consist of medical students, residents, cardiology fellows and advanced practice providers. This position will require a cardiologist who has strong interpersonal and communication skills with the demonstrated ability to effectively lead a team. The level of faculty on either tenure or non-tenure track at the Assistant, Associate or Professor level, and salary will be commensurate with experience and training.
