Brown University in Providence, Rhode Island, is seeking an Academic Department Manager for the Department of Earth, Environmental and Planetary Sciences. The role oversees financial, administrative, HR, student affairs, communications, and research administration operations while coordinating with central offices to implement university policies.

Ideal candidates hold a Bachelor's degree with 5–7 years in finance, HR, and operations, and exhibit strong analytical, organizational, and leadership

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree plus 5–7 years relevant experience in finance, HR, and business operations and planning or equivalent combination of education and experience.
• Strong analytical, organizational and planning skills.
• Excellent computer skills (Microsoft Office, Google Suites) with aptitude for learning new systems.
• Excellent financial management skills.
• Knowledge of financial reporting systems and advanced Excel spreadsheets.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• Grant management and research administration experience preferred.
• Supervisory experience and leadership skills.
• Excellent time management and prioritization in a dynamic environment.

Responsabilités

• Manage financial, administrative, human resources, student affairs, communications, and research administration functions for the DEEPS department.
• Serve as liaison between the department and central offices to implement university policies and services.
• Relieve the faculty chair of day-to-day administrative operations.
• Provide strategic and fiscal planning to support department initiatives and growth.
