Position Details

Position Type: Admin Campus - Assist Principal/ Secondary Assistant Principal/Dean

Pay Grade: 3
Shift Type:Full-Time
Wage/Hour Status:Exempt
Reports To:Executive Director – Leadership Development

Employment Begins:As soon as possible

Primary Purpose

To assist the principal in leading the campus instructional program, including assessing, analyzing and developing strategies to improve teaching and learning, resulting in increased student outcomes.

Qualifications

Education/Certification: Master's Degree, Administrator Certificate

Special Knowledge / Skills
  • Exhibit excellent communication (verbal and written), public relation, and interpersonal skills.
  • Possess knowledge and understanding of change process, organizational development, conflict resolution, and facilitation skills.
  • Possess knowledge and understanding of teaching methodologies and ability to provide assistance and instructional help to teachers in need of assistance.
  • Exhibit knowledge and understanding of all policies and procedures of the MISD.
  • Display excellent organizational and consensus building skills.
  • Possess understanding of technology and its importance in the educational process.
Experience
  • Successful experience in the field of public education.
  • Successful experience as a classroom teacher.
  • Such alternatives to the above qualifications as the Administration may find appropriate and acceptable.
Major Responsibilities and Duties
  • Lead the development, entry, and implementation of the campus master schedule
  • Supervise the campus grading system
  • Oversee the classroom walkthrough system and collection/analysis of data
  • Coordinate graduation
  • Manage and supervise campus learning recovery
  • Supervise the campus counseling program
  • Lead the college, career, and military readiness efforts
  • Supervise Advanced Academics: AP/DC/On Ramps
  • Oversee the Excellence in Teaching Incentive Program
  • Conduct classroom observations, collect and analyze data, and provide feedback
  • Ensure implementation of quality professional learning communities
  • Support the development and implementation of quality professional learning
  • Communicate effectively with students, staff, parents, and the community.
  • Align decisions to campus and district policies and administrative guidelines.
  • Perform other duties as may be assigned by the principal or district staff.
Supervisory Responsibilities
  • Work in supervisory capacities assigned by the Principal
Working Conditions

Mental Demands: Managing simultaneously occurring projects, communicating effectively with the public, and making effective decisions while maintaining emotional control. Frequent prolonged and irregular hours that require physical stamina in monitoring student conduct and activities.
