Summary

The Dean is instrumental in fostering academic integrity and continuous improvement through assessment, faculty development, and curricular improvements. The Dean works closely with institutional and campus leadership, faculty, and staff to support student success and deliver identified academic outcomes.

Compensation:

The starting pay range for this position is $90,000 - $93,000 annually.

Academic Oversight

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

• Supervises the academic programs on campus to ensure the integrity and quality of education in both classrooms and labs.
• Analyzes and monitors student academic performance (attendance, grades, and Satisfactory Academic Progress) and works with faculty to address challenges.
• Reviews and assesses student learning outcomes; identifies and supports adjustments to curriculum and teaching methodologies as needed.
• Ensures compliance with accreditation requirements, institutional policies, and federal and state regulations.

Faculty Management

• Coordinates faculty recruitment, hiring, and evaluation processes in alignment with qualifications, academic standards and institutional goals.
• Oversees the orientation and training of new faculty members.
• Coordinates faculty teaching schedules, classroom/lab facilities, and academic activities.
• Conducts regular classroom observations and provides constructive feedback to faculty to ensure effective teaching and student engagement.
• Conducts faculty performance evaluations.
• Provides ongoing professional development for faculty, supporting their growth in teaching, curriculum development, and student engagement.
• Fosters a collaborative environment by encouraging faculty involvement in institutional committees, workshops, and other development activities.
• Addressed any disciplinary issues according to institutional policy.

Student Success And Retention

• Coordinates with faculty and staff to provide academic advising services to students.
• Collaborates with campus service areas to ensure comprehensive student services, including tutoring and career advising.
• Develops and implements strategies to enhance student retention; utilizes data to monitor progress and creates action plans for improvement.
• Facilitates communication between faculty and students to resolve academic issues and ensure students receive the necessary support.

Continuous Improvement

• Reviews assessment data (student feedback, retention, grades) and collaborates with faculty to continuously improve the learning experience and academic outcomes.
• Develops and implements action plans for program improvements based on data analysis and institutional goals.
• Participates in program reviews and institutional assessments to ensure academic offerings remain relevant and effective.

Operational Coordination

• Ensures that all academic programs and processes are aligned with the institution's strategic goals and objectives.
• Maintains accurate records of academic performance, student progress, and faculty performance.
• Prepares reports for institutional review.
• Participates in the planning and execution of campus events, such as orientations, student council activities, and award ceremonies.

Institutional And Safety Compliance

• Ensures campus facilities and instructional spaces meet safety standards and are conducive to student learning.
• Acts as the Incident Commander during emergencies, coordinating with campus safety committees to ensure student and faculty well-being.
• Serves on institutional committees and participates in campus meetings to contribute to campus-wide initiatives and improvements.

Supervisory Responsibilities

• Supervises program directors, faculty, academic administrative staff, and student center coordinators.
• Promotes a culture of accountability, providing guidance and support while maintaining high standards of performance.

Qualifications

• Education: Bachelor’s degree in Education, Leadership, or related field is required; Master’s degree preferred.

• Skills:
  • Strong organizational, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook) and familiarity with Learning Management Systems (LMS) and Student Information Systems (SIS).
  • Ability to assess academic outcomes, provide feedback, and implement improvements based on data analysis.
