Description

The Academic Coach plays a pivotal role in supporting student success through the development and management of both academic support services and learning resources. This position combines the responsibilities of academic coaching, student development, and resource management to create an integrated approach to student achievement. The role includes providing personalized academic coaching, organizing and facilitating workshops, managing the Learning Resource Center (LRC), and ensuring access to academic resources that align with curriculum goals. The position works closely with faculty, staff, and campus leadership to enhance student experience, track student progress, and implement resources that support academic excellence. The Academic Coach will be expected to work on-site and may also be required to attend evening or weekend events or orientations as needed to support students.

Compensation

The starting pay range for this position is $23.00 - $28.00 per hour.

Essential Duties And Responsibilities

• Academic Coaching & Student Support
  • Designs, develops, and implements workshops and one-on-one coaching sessions to improve student skills in areas such as academic preparedness, time management, learning strategies, and career readiness.
  • Provides personalized academic coaching to students to help them achieve their educational and career goals.
  • Supports the delivery of new student orientations, introducing academic support services and available resources.
  • Tracks and analyzes student performance, persistence, and completion data, developing action plans to improve student success and retention.
  • Collaborates with faculty and campus staff to identify student needs and provide targeted interventions and resources.
• Learning Resource Center (LRC) Management
  • Manages day-to-day operations of the campus LRC, ensuring that students have access to the necessary resources for academic success.
  • Coordinates the circulation of learning materials, including books, digital resources, and research materials.
  • Maintains and organizes LRC resources, ensuring that materials are up-to-date and aligned with curriculum and program needs.
  • Provides students with research assistance and guidance on using academic resources effectively.
  • Works with faculty to select and acquire learning materials and resources that support course content and program goals.
  • Participates in the ongoing development and implementation of the LRC Master Plan, ensuring resources and services meet student needs.
• Data Analysis and Reporting
  • Collects and analyzes student data related to academic performance, resource usage, and engagement with workshops and support services.
  • Provides reports on student progress and retention, offering insights and recommendations for improvements to academic coaching and resource offerings.
• Collaboration & Communication
  • Serves as a liaison between students, faculty, and campus leadership to ensure a coordinated approach to student support and academic success.
  • Participates in campus meetings, committees, and task forces related to academic affairs, student services and resource planning, as assigned.
  • Communicates effectively with appropriate stakeholders regarding student progress, support services and academic resource needs.
• Administrative Responsibilities
  • Assists in administering the LRC operations budget, including the acquisition of new learning materials, digital resources and equipment.
  • Ensures LRC operations comply with program requirements and institutional policies.
  • Supports the organization and management of library and learning materials, conducting regular inventory checks as directed by the librarian.
• Additional Duties
  • Participates in staff training and professional development activities
  • Performs other duties as assigned by the Academic Dean or Campus Director to support student success and campus operations.

Supervisory Responsibilities

• May oversee part-time or student staff in the LRC (if applicable) to support the circulation and management of academic resources. Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization’s policies and applicable laws.

Qualifications

• Education and Experience
  • Bachelor's degree in Education, Psychology or a related field required. Master’s degree preferred.
  • Minimum of two years of experience in academic support, coaching or resource management, preferably in a higher education setting.
• Knowledge and Skills
  • Experience with academic coaching, tutoring or student support services.
  • Familiarity with learning resource management, including library systems, digital resources and research tools.
  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret data and make recommendations for improvement.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook) and other relevant software.
• Physical Demands
  • The physical demands of the job include regular standing, walking, sitting and the ability to lift and/or move up to 25 pounds.
