Job summary

University of North Dakota in Grand Forks, ND, is seeking a Custodian to perform cleaning, upkeep, and to create work orders for buildings. The role involves moving furniture and equipment, collecting waste, and supporting facilities operations on a full-time, on-site basis.

Qualifications

• HS/ GED OR equivalent experience.
• Driver’s license required for this position.
• Able to obtain security clearance to acquire a TSA Ramp Badge.
• Successful Completion of a Criminal History Background Check.

• Mopping, sweeping, vacuuming, shampooing and renewing floor finishes.
• Washing windows, blinds, mirrors, walls, doors and woodwork.
• Cleaning and dusting furniture, fixtures and appliances.
• Cleaning and disinfecting rest rooms in public or residential areas.
• Maintaining a continuous supply of paper in all dispensers.
• Collecting and disposing of waste and recyclables.
• May perform power washing, snow removal and operate a snow blower.
• Moves and sets up furniture/equipment for events or departments.

Salary/Position Classification

• $35,360 Annual, Non-Exempt (Eligible for overtime)
• 40 hours per week, Wednesday–Sunday 5:00am - 1:30pm
• This position will work onsite at UND Grand Forks, ND campus

Purpose of Position

This position is responsible for performing custodial work required for the cleaning, upkeep and creating work orders for buildings. They may move furniture and equipment; collect waste, paper, and recycling materials; and perform other custodial duties as required.
All Facilities Management positions are subject to callbacks seven day a week, 24 hours a day. Weekend work as required.

Duties & Responsibilities

• Mopping, sweeping, vacuuming, shampooing, and renewing floor finishes.
• Washing windows, blinds, mirrors, walls, doors, and woodwork.
• Cleaning and dusting furniture, exhibit cases, fixtures, appliances, and related furnishings.
• Cleaning and disinfecting rest room in public and /or residential areas.
• Maintaining a continuous supply of paper in all dispensers.
• Collecting and picking up waste and recyclable materials, both inside and outside of buildings.
• May perform power washing, leaf removal, moving snow and may be required to operate a snow blower.
• Performs minor repairs to equipment.
• Responsible for reporting minor and major maintenance and equipment issues to appropriate personnel.
• Removal of snow from sidewalks, cleaning gutters, drains spouts, and grounds outside.
• Moving and setting up furniture and equipment for events or departments.
• Locking and unlocking doors main building doors as required.
• Will submit supply requests and work orders.
• Responsible for submitting timely leave requests to management.
• Responsible for checking and reading University email account on a regular basis.

Minimum Requirements

• HS/ GED OR equivalent experience
• Driver’s license required for this position
