Job summary

Coahoma Community College is seeking an Academic Counselor to provide counseling, advisement, and guidance to students for achieving educational and personal objectives. • Utilizes technology resources to enhance school counseling programs.
• Adheres to laws, policies, procedures, and ethical standards of the counseling profession.
• T teaches orientation classes as needed.
• Monitors student academic performance, behavior, and attendance; assists with interventions.
• Evaluates counseling program activities and shares results.
• Serves on department and campus committees and participates in campus activities.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

• Provides academic, career, and social counseling to students; implements an effectivereferral and follow-up process

• Participates in registration and student orientation sessions

• Assists students individually or in groups with developing academic, career, and personal/socialskills, goals, and plans; provides individual and group counseling to students withidentified concerns and needs

• Consults and collaborates effectively with teachers, administrators, and other educational/communityresources regarding students with identified concerns and needs

• Provides appropriate information to staff related to the comprehensive school counselingprogram

• Participates in professional development activities to improve knowledge and skills

• Utilizes available technology resources to enhance the school counseling programs

• Adheres to laws, policies, procedures, and ethical standards of the counseling profession

• Teaches orientation classes as needed

• Monitors student academic performance, behavior, and attendance; assists with appropriateinterventions

• Evaluates school counseling program activities and shares results as appropriate

• Serves on department and campus committees and accepts committee assignments
