  • Log advising notes and data into the BLUMEN system for APRs.
  • Assist with intake, rubrics, and transition support for Summer Scholars program.

Job description

Position Summary:

The SSS Academic Coordinator is primarily dedicated to academic advising, grade tracking, maintaining academic progress, and coordinating cognitive skill development. This role directly targets the academic barriers facing underrepresented students, ensuring student complete the academic and career goals.

Specific Job Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Proactive Academic Advising and Intervention: Execute proactive academic advising models utilizing the university’s Workday data system to review student records, academic schedules, and cumulative GPAs. Conduct monthly mandatory advising meetings with participants to connect with academic advising to map out academic schedules and evaluate milestone metrics.
  • Early Warning and Grade Monitoring: Coordinate the project’s response to the university’s “Academic SOS” early alert system. Actively track mid-term and monthly grade reports, indicating grades below a “C” to deploy immediate corrective action plans and academic counseling.
  • Plan of Action (POA) Management: Collaborate with each participant to build a structured, dynamic individualized Plan of Action (POA). Conduct continuous monthly progress reviews to adjust academic strategies and align milestones with graduation timelines dynamically.
  • Tutor Hiring and GTLC Early Intervention Collaboration: Mage the hiring process for student tutors and establish a direct collaboration with the Grizzly Testing and Learning Center (GTLC). Coordinate seamlessly with the GTLC to implement proactive early interventions and ensure SSS students' access to support.
  • Curriculum & Assessment Development: Design, review, and implement academic assessment standards and placement for participants.
  • Data Entry & Compliance Tracking: Accurately log advising notes, contract hours, and academic data into the BLUMEN student database to compile tracking metrics for federal Annual Performance Reports (APR).
  • Recruitment & Summer Scholars Bridge Program: Support the intake, interview, and rubric evaluations, and identification of the 175 grant participants. Collaborate with residence hall staff and summer instructors during the 3- week Summer Scholars Bridge Program to ease the transition of new students.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in Education or a closely related field
  • Experience in postsecondary educational standards, student assessment models, and database management.
  • Minimum 1 year of experience coordinating student assessment, student advising projects, and academic curriculum development.
  • Minimum 1 year of experience in direct college-level academic advising or equivalent experience, and collaboration across campus support networks.
  • Experience in implementing retention strategies designed to improve cumulative GPAs.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Master’s degree in Education or a closely related field
  • Individuals from backgrounds similar to the target population (low-income, first-generation, or individuals with disabilities)
  • Bilingual Spanish/English
