University of South Carolina Upstate is seeking an Academic Advisor to serve declared, undeclared, and prospective NSE majors at USC Upstate. You will advise students, promote best practices in advisement, assess needs and goals, and help design an effective academic plan, coordinating programs that support student success.

The role requires strong organizational and IT skills, ability to work in a high-demand environment, and willingness to evening or weekend travel.

Qualifications

• Background check required.
• Knowledge of student success initiatives, academic support, first-year programming, or counseling in higher education.
• Excellent organizational, management, and office skills.
• Ability to meet deadlines in a high-traffic environment and some evenings/weekends travel.
• Proficiency with database and spreadsheet software and Microsoft Office.

Responsibilities

• Academic Advisors are responsible for advising declared, undeclared, and prospective students, promoting good advisement practices, and assisting with academic support.
• Assess students' needs, goals, interests, and prior academic experiences to guide the design and implementation of an effective academic plan.
• Coordinate comprehensive programs and initiatives that promote student success, including academic support, professionalism and protocol training, and career development.
