Job Responsibilities
- Provides academic advising to support student retention and graduation initiatives, collaborating with faculty advisors and department chairs regarding a student's academic program and progression.
- Identifies and helps resolve obstacles impeding the academic success of students. Meets with students a minimum of two times per semester and as necessary.
- Explains academic policies, procedures, and guidelines to students to meet their educational goals. Supports students in developing a required academic plan to meet graduation requirements.
- Educates students about the value of academic advisement and the importance of the registration process. Informs advisees of significant deadlines regarding Course Add, Course Drop, Withdrawals, and Academic Support Services.
- Maintains advising records and confidential student records in compliance with FERPA regulations.
- Engages in professional development activities by participating in conferences, training sessions, and webinars to stay current in the best practices of academic advising.
- Participates in New Student Orientations related to Academic Advising.
- Performs related duties as required or deemed necessary to meet the goals of the Office or Academic Advisement within the Advisor's scope of responsibility.
Additional Responsibilities

Minimum and Additional Requirements
Bachelor's degree and experience in student services program.
Preferred Qualifications
Master's degree, at least 3 years in academic advising or related student support services. Experience with Colleague Self Service or other Higher Education Database System.
