Job summary

Youngstown State University is seeking an academic advisor to support undergraduate students by interpreting assessments, creating academic plans, guiding course selection and scheduling, and ensuring progress toward degree completion. The role requires at least a bachelor’s degree with one year of advising experience; a Master’s degree is preferred.

Responsibilities include policy interpretation, graduation audits, and collaboration across units, with a Monday–Friday schedule in Youngstown.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree required and one year of academic advising experience.
• Experience interpreting placement assessments and guiding degree progress.
• Strong written and oral communication and basic knowledge of FERPA.

Responsibilities

• Provide academic advisement to undergraduates and assist with course selection and registration.
• Interpret placement assessments and develop individualized academic plans.
• Monitor degree progress and respond to early alerts with referrals as needed.
• Assist with transfer credit evaluation and graduation audits.
• Maintain student records per FERPA and university policies.
