Summary:
The ES Academic Advisor supports Home Facilitators (parent/guardian) of students who are at risk.
The role of an ES Academic Advisor is to empower parents of students who are not reaching their full potential (due to not attending school, not completing lessons, not being fully engaged in school, etc.) by providing the resources and support they need to become effective Home Facilitators. Academic Advisors will work together with the parent, teachers, guidance counselor, and principal to help each student reach his/her full potential.
Essential Duties:
Maintain contact with Home Facilitators of students at risk to fail their course(s)
Track student progress
Keep detailed records of all interactions with Home Facilitators
Act as a resource by supporting parents as they learn how to become a more effective Home Facilitator
Encourage parents to become more engaged in their students’ daily school schedule
Actively participate in Team Level activities
Meet with parents
Monitor summer school students
Acts as a resource in helping Home Facilitators with time management
Act as a resource in helping Home Facilitators navigate the school platform
Communicating with teachers, support staff, and Home Facilitators in order to better understand students’ needs
Performs other miscellaneous duties as assigned by management
Participate as proxy test facilitators for PSSA and Keystone testing as needed
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
AA degree
Previous family support experience strongly preferred
Knowledge of Google Drive a plus
Knowledge of Canvas a plus
Strong customer service experience
Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written
Ability to build rapport with families and co-workers
Excellent time management skills
Excellent record-keeping ability
Strong technology skills
Physical/Mental/Environmental Demands:
Physical: Normal vision, speech, hearing, walking, sitting, standing, lifting, stooping, bending, grasping, keyboarding, and filing ability
Mental: Positive Attitude, analyzing, problem solving, decision making, and writing.
Environmental: Online, office, blended school environment
