Job Description

Essential Duties:

The Academic Advisor will conduct individual and group advising, including academic planning, connecting students with university resources, and communicating relevant information. Responsibilities also include reviewing semester grades, initiating outreach for at-risk students, and teaching first-year experience or transition courses.

Additional duties encompass working with new student and transfer orientations, supporting new advising initiatives, meeting prospective students, supporting admission events, serving as a resource for faculty and professional advisors, and participating in committees or working groups. The position offers opportunities for project contributions and cross-training. Other duties are assigned by the Assistant Dean or Associate/Assistant Directors of Advising.

Additional Position Information:

After a six-month probation and positive evaluation, this position is eligible for remote work (up to 40% or two days per week), subject to job requirements. Remote work arrangements can be modified or revoked by Miami University at any time.

Minimum Qualifications:

Required: Master’s degree by start date. Consideration may be given to candidates with experience working with College of Arts and Science and undeclared majors, university setting experience, or a master’s in relevant fields. Experience with diverse student populations and communication skills are essential. Familiarity with tools like Banner, uAchieve, Navigate 360, WorkDay, Oracle BI, and Transferology is preferred.
