Responsibilities
- Provides academic and career advising to students using a case management approach.
- Conducts in‑depth intake interviews, short‑ and long‑term goal development, follow‑up and outreach for students seeking additional support with clarifying educational and career goals.
- Collaborates with administrators, faculty, staff, and stakeholders to support student success.
- Resolves student advising issues related to curriculum, course prerequisites, and academic progress.
- Reviews transcripts to determine eligibility for specific colleges or programs, including unofficial evaluation of transfer credits.
- Monitors and communicates with students in caseload for academic progress, retention, early alert referrals, and completion of graduation requirements.
- Assists in training or supervising new advisors regarding college policies, regulations, and program requirements.
- Conducts or facilitates career and group advising sessions for assigned caseload.
- Develops strategies to enhance student experience, retention, and graduation rates.
- Reviews and resolves registration barriers before each term.
- Facilitates career exploration and development of academic plans using assessment tools.
- Serves on college committees, task forces, working groups, and may advise student organizations.
- Responds to student, staff, faculty, and administrator inquiries on advising, registration, graduation, transfer, and policies.
- Processes electronic transient forms via FACTS.org system.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree required; Master’s degree preferred (Counseling, Social Work, Education).
- Six years of relevant experience with a Bachelor’s; four years of relevant experience with a Master’s.
- In‑depth functional knowledge of the college’s advising processes and related areas.

- Strong diagnostic, analytical and problem‑solving skills.
- Excellent coordination and communication skills at all levels of the college.
- Ability to manage own workflow, prioritize tasks, and achieve results.
- Ability to present and disseminate data to multiple audiences.
- Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Office and specialized college systems.
- Effective interpersonal skills with employees and students.
