Job description

The Department of Anesthesiology & Pain Medicine, University of California, Davis, is recruiting for one Acute Pain Anesthesiology Assistant/Associate or Full Professor in the Clinical X or Health Sciences Clinical Professor Series.

As an academic acute pain anesthesiologist, the successful candidate will manage acute perioperative pain across a broad range of surgical services at UC Davis Medical Center, with a focus on delivering procedure-specific multimodal analgesia. Responsibilities include participation in the Acute Pain Service-specific call schedule, development of individualized pain plans, and performance of regional anesthesia techniques, including ultrasound-guided peripheral nerve blocks and neuraxial procedures. The candidate will collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to optimize recovery, reduce opioid use and improve patient outcomes. Additional responsibilities include clinical education of medical students, residents and fellows, and service activities commensurate with academic rank. Faculty in this role may have the opportunity to serve as attending faculty in both the operating room and intensive care settings, including solo faculty assignments. In addition to clinical care, teaching and service, Health Sciences Clinical Professor series faculty engage in scholarly or creative activities which derive from and support their primary responsibilities in clinical teaching, professional and service activities, while Clinical X series faculty should have involvement in an extramurally funded research program and a publication list.

MD/DO, graduation from an ACGME-approved residency program, experience in acute perioperative pain management and regional anesthesia or completion of an ACGME-accredited Pain Medicine fellowship, ABA board certification or eligibility, and experience teaching medical students and/or residents and fellows.
