Position Title: STAY FLY Program Lead CoachReports To: STAY FLY Program ManagerCommunity: Alameda CountyOffice Location: Oakland, CA (up to 50% hybrid role of in-person and remote)Compensation: $30.15/hourly, generous benefits packageProgram SummaryThe STAY FLY Program builds agency, self-sufficiency, and self-advocacy in transitional-age young adults between the ages of 18 and 25 while decreasing their likelihood of deeper involvement in the justice system.STAY FLY Program Lead Coach - Position SummaryThe STAY FLY Program Lead Coach will help lead the expansion of the STAY FLY Program in Alameda County while offering structured support and guidance to justice system-impacted transitional-age youth (TAY) between the ages of 18-25. In addition to facilitating legal education workshops, STAY FLY Coaches work with young adults to set goals for education, employment, and life skills to prevent future system involvement. The Lead Coach is also responsible for coordinating and executing pro-social and civic engagement events for young adults, as well as participating in community meetings and events that serve FLY’s young adult population.Position ResponsibilitiesProvide Coaching and Advocacy for Young AdultsProvide coaching for 2-4 hours per month depending on the program phase for a caseload of up to 15 young adults per yearDevelop individualized development plans to support young adults in building social-emotional and self-sufficiency skills to achieve goals related to education, employment, reduced justice system involvement, etc.Respond to young adult crises and basic needs supports utilizing community services and resourcesSupport young adults with systems navigation by attending education meetings, court hearings, preparing court reports, and engaging in community partner meetingsDocument all client interactions, including case notes and coaching progress, into internal tracking database, Efforts to Outcomes (ETO), and maintain thorough coaching paperwork in client fileCompile relevant data and complete grant reports for program funding sources related to young adult and/or program successes, highlights, or challengesFacilitate Law-Related Education WorkshopsLead the coordination and facilitation of weekly law-related education workshops and maintain positive relationships with young adults participating in the workshopsMaintain stakeholder relationships associated with workshops (i.e., probation officers, community providers, etc) in collaboration with the Program ManagerAdminister necessary program evaluations and surveys at the beginning and end of workshop cyclesIncorporate strategies into weekly workshop facilitation for recruiting young adults into coachingProvide additional resources to young adults who participate in the workshops, but may not be eligible for coaching servicesCoordinate and invite outside resource people/guest speakers to workshops in collaboration with the Program ManagerMonitor weekly attendance and generate ETO attendance reports, as needed.Lead curriculum training sessions for staff and volunteer facilitators, as needed.Facilitate and Plan Program Activities in Collaboration with Program TeamPlan and execute group events for young adults who participate in the program via the caseload or workshops in collaboration with the Program CoordinatorProvide updates to young adults on caseload about upcoming events and collaborate with the program team to ensure attendance at group eventsLead the facilitation and planning of personal and/or professional development workshops for young adults in collaboration with the Program ManagerEngage young adults in opportunities to deepen historical and cultural understanding of their experiences and community issues, harness their strengths and develop skills while giving back to the communityMonitor group event attendance and develop strategies to increase attendance, as neededProvide and coordinate transportation for young adults to and from activities and eventsCoordinate with program staff across the agency for cross-program event collaboration opportunitiesCollaborate and Engage with Education, Community, and System StakeholdersParticipate and engage in education, community, and systems meetings/events to understand the needs of the community in which the young adults liveMaintain positive relationships with education, community, and system providers, including probation officers and community-based organizationsLead efforts supporting young adults in participating in community spaces that allow them to elevate their voice, engage in advocacy, celebrate their accomplishments, and take action on issues impacting young adults and the communityLead external presentations about the STAY FLY Program and represent the agency at community meetings, as neededOur Commitment to Diversity, Equity, And InclusionAt FLY, we embrace a diversity of identities, beliefs, thoughts, and experiences.
