Job summary

FLANDERS is a world leader in renewing machines for heavy industry and is expanding the Longview Operations team with 2 AC/DC Motor Technicians. The AC/DC Motor Technician will disassemble, inspect, clean, repair, test, and reassemble complex electromechanical motors and equipment.

Primary responsibilities include reading job cards, disassembling and reassembling components, performing electrical and mechanical tests, documenting results, and maintaining thorough paperwork through the repair

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • At least two years of mechanical or repair experience.
  • Ability to perform basic math functions, including fractions.

  • Disassemble moderately complex electromechanical equipment noting parts identification, configuration and condition.
  • Assemble moderately complex motors and equipment including bearings, gears, seals and related components.
  • Perform tests of electromechanical equipment and document results.
  • Maintain thorough paperwork throughout the repair process including test sheets and quality control checks.

The Longview Operations team is growing and is looking to add 2 AC/DC Motor Technicians! The AC/DC Motor Technician will disassemble, inspect, clean, repair, test, and reassemble complex electromechanical motors and equipment.

Primary Responsibilities
  • Read job cards to determine job status, work authorizations/limitations, description of problems, and/or expected serviceability.
  • Disassemble moderately complex electromechanical equipment noting parts identification, configuration, and condition.
  • Assemble moderately complex motors and equipment including bluing and scraping sleeve bearings.
  • Perform tests of electromechanical equipment and document accordingly including AC and DC drop test.
  • Operate Megger DC Hypot, Surge Tester, AC Hypot Volt-Ohm Meter, Growler, Amp Meters, and Feeler Gauges, Tem. Chard Recorder, 810 Vibration Meter, and electrical testing up to 20,000 VDC as needed on jobs.
  • Clean complex electromechanical equipment assemblies as needed using various methods and steps including but not limited to parts washers/steamers.
  • Thoroughly inspect parts for wear and damage and record any worn or damaged parts.
  • Measure parts for proper replacement or note proper replacement parts.
  • Store parts accurately according to job status or work scope after the dismantling process.
  • Replace and repair moderately complex defective mechanical and electromechanical assemblies including but not limited to bearings, brushes, brush holders, motor leads, gears, seals, impellers, mechanical switches, brakes, clutches, clutch rotors, tachs, fans, end shields, etc.
  • Lift, tighten, adjust, and/or secure heavy objects to perform work duties.
  • Maintain thorough paperwork throughout entire repair process including all test sheets from receiving unit description to Quality Control Checklist. Record accurately and on a timely basis.
  • Pre-test electrical and mechanical equipment and ensure proper lubrication set up on test plate.
  • Connect leads and test run on proper voltage. Observe any abnormalities in test run (heat/rubbing noise, etc.).
  • Retest reassembled electromechanical equipment for proper output and operation.
  • Observe safety rules for Low Medium Voltage Test Panel.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
Skills & Qualifications
  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • At least two years of mechanical or repair experience
  • Ability to perform basic math functions including addition, subtraction, multiplication, division including understanding fractions
