Title Examiner / Abstractor – Indiana Project

Location: Indiana

Company: Halo Land Management

1099 Contractor | $178/Day Per Diem | Mileage Reimbursement | Active Project in Progress

Untangle the Past. Secure the Future. Title Work that Fuels What’s Next.

At Halo Land Management, we go beyond courthouse records — we clarify ownership, uncover history, and build the foundation for energy projects that move the nation forward. As a Title Examiner/Abstractor on our Indiana project, you’ll be at the heart of this work — delivering clean, accurate title research that drives decision-making and unlocks opportunity.

If you thrive in courthouse settings, love solving chain of title puzzles, and can produce fast, accurate deliverables, this role offers the autonomy, support, and pay structure to keep you moving.

A Day in the Life: In the Records, On the Road

You start the day reviewing an assignment to trace mineral ownership for a parcel in Knox County. You head to the county courthouse or log in to a digital index, pulling deeds, leases, and probate records spanning 100 years. Midday, you flag a gap in the chain involving a severed estate and draft a note for curative. By afternoon, you're compiling a clean run sheet, cross-checking HBP status, and sending updates to the project lead.

Some days involve courthouse visits and on-site digging. Others are heads-down at your desk, translating decades of history into client-ready clarity. Every day ends with real impact.

What You’ll Do

  • Trace surface and mineral ownership using public records, courthouse visits, and online research platforms.
  • Compile professional-quality abstracts, run sheets, mineral ownership reports, and flowcharts.
  • Examine leasehold chains and determine Held By Production (HBP) status.
  • Identify and communicate gaps in title, curative needs, and ownership anomalies.
  • Track lease expirations and provide timely updates to support drilling schedules and due diligence.
  • Manage multiple tracts and deadlines independently, while staying aligned with Halo’s quality standards.
  • Coordinate findings with internal leads and contribute to fast-moving project timelines.

What You Bring

  • 1+ year of mineral title examination experience in Indiana (required).
  • Expertise in reading and interpreting legal instruments, probate records, and deed language.
  • Experience working with oil & gas leaseholds and identifying HBP status.
  • Strong documentation skills — run sheets, abstracts, flowcharts, ownership summaries.
  • Detail-driven mindset and ability to meet aggressive project deadlines.
  • Proficiency with Excel, cloud document tools, and digital title research systems.
  • Must operate under an LLC.
  • Active AAPL membership preferred.
