Shape raw material into precision parts—one high-pressure cut at a timeAs our Abrasive Waterjet CNC Machinist, you’ll start each shift by reviewing work orders and technical drawings, then translating CAD/CAM files (.DXF, .DWG) into optimized nests that minimize scrap and maximize throughput. You’ll configure the CNC waterjet and high-pressure pumps, dial in pressures and abrasive flow, and select the right consumables—focus tubes, orifices, nozzles, and garnet—based on the material and thickness. From there, you’ll load and unload material onto the cutting table using overhead cranes, forklifts, or manual assists, run a first-article, and verify dimensions with calipers, micrometers, and tape measures to ensure tight tolerances. Throughout production, you’ll monitor cut quality, make on-the-fly adjustments, and troubleshoot mechanical or process issues. You’ll wrap up with routine preventive maintenance—cleaning the table, disposing of spent garnet, and checking seals—while keeping a spotless, OSHA-compliant work area. What you’ll handleSet up, calibrate, and safely operate CNC waterjet cutting machinery and high-pressure pump systems.Import, translate, and nest CAD/CAM files (.DXF/.DWG) to boost yield and efficiency.Load/unload plates and sheets using overhead cranes, forklifts, or manual lifting tools.Select and replace consumables (focus tubes, orifices, nozzles, abrasive garnet) to match application needs.Perform first-article and in-process inspections using precision metrology (calipers, micrometers, tape measures) to hold tight tolerances.Monitor machine operation, water pressure, and abrasive flow; resolve cut-quality or mechanical issues.Complete routine PM: clean table, remove spent garnet, inspect seals.Maintain an organized workstation and follow all safety procedures and OSHA standards. What you bringHigh school diploma, GED, or equivalent experience in a fabrication or machining environment.Hands-on CNC operation experience; waterjet background strongly preferred.Ability to read/interpret blueprints, technical drawings, and manufacturing work orders.Computer-literate with nesting software or CAD/CAM familiarity.Solid shop math (fractions, decimals, basic geometry).Capable of lifting up to 50 lbs regularly and standing for extended periods.Forklift and overhead crane certification, or willingness to complete on-the-job certification.Exceptional attention to detail and problem-solving skills.Preferred exposureExperience with brands such as Romeo, Flow, OMAX, Techni, or similar.Comfort cutting stainless steel, carbon steel, aluminum, plastics, and stone.Technical proficienciesGD&TEquipment Troubleshooting and Troubleshooting SkillsCNC Programming and G-CodeTape Measure ReadingCNC Machine Setup & ChangeoverPrecision Measurement & Hand MetrologyAdvanced Inspection & Gauge MeasurementMachine Geometry & AlignmentMachine Setups for Production RunsTools and technologiesCNC WaterjetCAM Software
