Grand River Navigation Company is the U.S. operating subsidiary of Rand Logistics Corporation. We are one of the largest marine transportation service providers operating on the Great Lakes today with a combined fleet of 10 bulk freight vessels in service to over 50 customers across the Great Lakes and St. Lawrence Seaway.

Our Company has immediate openings for the position of Able Seaman aboard our US flagged self-unloading vessels. This is also an opportunity for recent Maritime Academy Deck Graduates who wish to earn their Great Lakes Pilotage and work as Deck Officers on the Great Lakes.

Responsibilities
  • Following safe work procedures
  • Assist with loading and unloading of cargo
  • Perform duties in port such as line handling
  • Follow instruction from 1st Mate on various tasks such as cleaning and maintenance
  • Standing part of a Navigation Watch while underway
  • Other duties as assigned
Required Qualifications to be considered an applicant
  • US Passport and allowed entry into Canada
  • Merchant Mariner Credential (MMC) with Able Seaman Endorsement issued by the United States Coast Guard
  • Transportation Worker Identification (TWIC) issued by TSA
  • Medical Certificate issued by United States Coast Guard
