Job summary

Tacoma Community College seeks Part-Time Faculty to teach Adult Basic Education and HS+ courses in a flexible, quarterly appointment framework. Instructional duties include preparing lessons, assessing outcomes, and maintaining records, with emphasis on equity and inclusive teaching.

Positions may be on Tacoma or Gig Harbor campuses, hybrid online, or fully online; evening hours may be required. Compensation is per credit hour as shown in the notice.

Qualifications

• Master's Degree in Education or closely related field.
• 15 college-level credits in one or more disciplines listed (environmental science, biology, natural science, health science, history, political science, mathematics, biology, social sciences, anthropology).
• Experiences with individuals from diverse backgrounds.
• 6+ months teaching experience in developmental or ABE Math/Reading/Writing or Fresh Start programs.
• Basic computer literacy: MS Word, Internet, and email.

Responsibilities

• Prepare, teach, and assess outcomes in assigned courses.
• Provide contextualized, competency-based instruction in a multilevel setting.
• Maintain accurate records of student progress and attendance; submit end-of-quarter reports.
• Conduct ongoing classroom assessment to demonstrate learner progress toward goals.
• Use data to improve teaching and learning; stay current in adult learning.
