Hoag Health in Newport Beach, California is seeking an experienced Abdominal Transplant Surgeon to join a growing program and help build a comprehensive kidney and liver transplant service from the ground up. The role combines robust clinical duties with leadership responsibilities to establish protocols, multidisciplinary collaboration, and program growth.

Qualifications

• MD or DO from an accredited medical school.
• Completion of an ACGME-accredited General Surgery residency.
• Fellowship in Abdominal Transplant Surgery (ASTS-approved).
• Board Certified or Board Eligible in General Surgery.
• Experience in kidney and liver transplantation, deceased donor procurement, and living donor nephrectomy.
• Pancreas and living donor liver transplantation experience preferred; NRP/OrganOx/Transmedics perfusion knowledge appreciated.

Responsibilities

• Perform full-spectrum abdominal transplant procedures, including kidney and liver transplantation, deceased donor recovery, and living donor nephrectomy.
• Participate in outpatient transplant evaluation clinics, inpatient service, multidisciplinary conferences, and organ offer reviews.
• Collaborate with transplant nephrology, hepatology, infectious diseases, anesthesia, critical care, nursing, pharmacy, quality, and leadership.
• Develop clinical protocols, lead program development, and contribute to quality and regulatory initiatives.
• Mentor team members and participate in transplant governance and educational activities.
