Job summary

Boardwalk seeks an ABA tutor to support K-6 students with autism and related needs. The role involves applying programs created by the special education team and providing hands-on assistance to students in inclusive settings.

Qualifications

• Four year college degree
• Degree in education, special education, or psychology preferred
• Experience with children with Autism is required
• Warm, caring, respectful with a strong desire to work with elementary age children
• Familiarity and training with the principles of Applied Behavior Analysis preferred

Responsibilities

• Implement programs and curriculum developed by the special education teacher or related service providers.
• Provide direct support to students' needs including toileting and handwashing.
• Respond to and support student behavior including aggressive behaviors.
• Support students during inclusion opportunities such as lunch, recess, and specials.
• Data collection and entry, documentation as needed.
• Consultation with teachers and staff as needed.
• Material preparation as needed.

Job Overview:

The role of the ABA tutor at Boardwalk involves supporting students with diverse needs. The role of the ABA Tutor includes the following: implementing programs and curriculum developed by the special education teacher or related service providers, providing direct support to student's needs, including toileting and handwashing, responding to and supporting student behavior including aggressive behaviors, supporting students during inclusion opportunities such as lunch/recess/specials, data collection and entry, consultation, and material prep as needed.

Program Overview

Pathways is a substantially separate program for students with autism and related disorders. The program at Boardwalk supports students graded K-6 across 4 classrooms. Each classroom is grouped by both age and skill abilities. Students in the Pathways Program receive most of their learning within their sub separate classrooms with targeted inclusion opportunities.

Job Requirements

Qualifications include:

• Four year college degree
• Degree in education, special education, or psychology preferred
• Experience with children with Autism is required
• Must be the kind of person who is warm, caring, respectful and have a strong desire to work with elementary age children
• Familiarity and training with the principles of Applied Behavior Analysis preferred
