Job summary

Damar Services, LLC in Indianapolis seeks a Learning and Development Specialist to join our ABA team. You will provide direct training to Damar ABA employees, conduct new hire orientation, and support learning initiatives across the organization.

The role requires a Bachelor’s degree, 2–4 years in education or mentoring, LMS experience, and RBT/CMT certifications or ability to obtain them within six months. You will develop curricula and deliver trainings both in-person and online.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree required or preferred in a relevant field.
  • 2–4 years of professional experience in education or mentoring.
  • Minimum of 1 year experience working with individuals with developmental disabilities.
  • Hands-on experience with Learning Management Software (LMS) preferred.
  • Must have or be able to obtain CMT Trainer Certification within 6 months of start date.
  • Must have Registered Behavior Technician (RBT) Certification.

Responsibilities

  • Designs, plans, and implements learning and development programs to drive organization improvement.
  • Develops teaching outlines and instructional methods for individual and group learning opportunities.
  • Delivers synchronous and asynchronous learning events using varied media in virtual and local environments.
  • Provides training to internal stakeholders such as New Hire Orientation, CMT, certifications, etc.
  • Maintains relationships with program management teams to serve as a business partner and proactively address learning needs.
  • Keeps a positive learner experience through managing schedule, content, interactions, and outcomes.

We are currently seeking a Learning and Development Specialist to join our highly skilled ABA team at our clinic. The ABA Learning and Development Specialist is responsible for providing direct training to employees of Damar ABA. Provides both internal and external trainings as assigned and enhances Damar’s reputation within the industry and in the community The ABA Learning and Development Specialist will be responsible for facilitating new employee orientation and assist with other learning and development initiatives.

  • Demonstrates competency through performance checklists in all clinical and administrative areas within 60 days of hire
  • Attends mandatory staff meetings, supervision, trainings, and other meetings as assigned
  • Maintains a clean, safe therapeutic environment
  • Seeks the best use of materials, equipment, and staff to maximize efficiency and effectiveness
  • Effectively uses time management to manage work assignments
  • May be required to work before or after hours
  • Coordinates learning sessions, schedules, and tracking systems for ABA employees including new hire orientation, First Aid/CPR, CMT, RBT certifications, and other mandatory training
  • Provides immediate feedback to ABA therapists following observation and completion of performance checklists
  • Remains available and approachable to ABA therapists for questions, concerns, or ideas regarding client programming or behavior intervention
  • Responds to a crisis appropriately and assists others as necessary
  • Actively participates in data collection and the use of data to improve outcomes, practices, and service delivery
  • Meets regularly with ABA Learning and Development Director
  • Performs RBT competency assessment for new hires within a designated period and follows guidelines outlined
  • Designs, plans, and implements learning and development programs to drive organization improvement
  • Develops teaching outlines and instructional methods for individual and group learning opportunities
  • Conducts training sessions for internal stakeholders, such as New Hire Orientation, CMT, certifications, etc
  • Demonstrates ownership of the training process including full accountability to meet department training goals and creating a positive learner experience through managing the training schedule, content, interactions, and outcomes
  • Collaborates with the ABA Learning and Development Director and subject matter experts to develop and implement projects/training activities to promote clinical and administrative expertise within Damar ABA and within the industry
  • Delivers synchronous and asynchronous learning events using varied media in virtual and local environments
  • Maintains relationships with Damar’s program management teams to serve as a business partner and proactively address learning needs
  • Provides training to non-RBTs until they pass the RBT exam-a minimum of 4 hours a week until they pass their competency
  • Leads RBT study group and exam prep when needed
  • Utilizes the LMS as instructed
What you need to be considered:
  • Bachelor’s degree in business, human resources, education, adult learning, human services preferred
  • 2-4 years of professional experience in education or mentoring preferred
  • Minimum of 1 year of experience working with individuals with developmental disabilities
  • Hands-on experience with Learning Management Software (LMS) preferred
  • Must have or be able to obtain Critical Moment Training (CMT) Trainer Certification within 6 months of start date
  • Must have Registered Behavior Technician (RBT) Certification
  • Minimum age of 18 per licensure requirements
  • Valid Indiana driver’s license and driving record that meets eligibility requirements of Damar’s insurance carrier (for all positions requiring driving)
  • Be clear of any felony convictions, substantiated charges of neglect or other disqualifying criminal convictions
  • Successfully complete a pre-employment physical
  • Favorably meet and maintain Damar’s background screening
