Job summary

Easterseals Southern California, Inc. is seeking an experienced ABA assessor to conduct comprehensive evaluations and determine program eligibility for children with ASD.

You will work with families in home and community settings, use evidence-based ABA methods, and prepare timely assessment reports for review by a multidisciplinary team. Applicants should hold a Master’s degree, be BCBA certified, and maintain CPR certification, with 3–5 years of ASD-related experience and strong communication

Job description

Overview of Position

Under general direction, conduct Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA) assessments using applicable tools and produce reports based on accurate data and assessment information to determine program eligibility.

Essential Functions
  • Schedule and conduct multiple assessment appointments with families in the home and community.
  • Utilize evidence‑based ABA assessment techniques.
  • Evaluate participants referred by the funding source for services along the parameters of an Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) diagnosis.
  • Review treatment overview, processes, and expectations with the family.
  • Keep the assessment team updated regarding delays and scheduling issues.
  • Prepare and submit final ABA assessment reports using approved case‑specific templates.
  • Ensure reports are submitted on time each month.
  • Track and submit mileage through the existing scheduling system.
  • Document appointments and administrative time in NPA as directed by the assessment team.
  • Protect participant confidentiality by purging files consistent with HIPAA guidelines.
  • Stay abreast of ABA assessment and evaluation techniques and tools via ongoing training.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
  • Master’s degree in psychology, early childhood education, or a related field from an accredited institution.
  • Board Certified Behavior Analyst (BCBA) certification, current and maintained.
  • Current CPR certification.
  • 3–5 years of experience working with children with Autism Spectrum Disorders (ASD) in a multi‑disciplinary team setting or equivalent training/experience.
  • Expertise in approaches to intervention and assessment based on the science of Applied Behavior Analysis; competent in employing and directing behavior analytic methodologies.
  • Excellent clinical, administrative, and interpersonal skills.
  • Effective oral and written communication skills and ability to work cooperatively with a variety of individuals and groups.
  • Discretion and confidentiality in handling sensitive documentation.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications.
  • Ability to pass a post‑offer physical examination, TB test, and provide proof of required vaccinations or a positive titer; a signed declination may be acceptable for certain vaccinations.
  • Ability to travel locally using reliable transportation, maintain a driving record in compliance with Transportation Safety Standards, and maintain auto insurance and vehicle registration.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a criminal record/fingerprint clearance from the Department of Justice and Federal Bureau of Investigation, per Easterseals of Southern California and/or program requirements.
Physical & Environmental Requirements
  • Carrying/Lifting: frequent, 0–30lbs.
  • Standing: frequent; Sitting: constant; Walking: occasional.
  • Repetitive motion/activity: keyboard activity, telephone use, writing, bending, reaching, squatting, kneeling and twisting.
  • Visual acuity: ability to view computer monitor and read newsprint.
  • Travel: up to 50% of time.
  • Environmental exposure: frequent unpleasant or hazardous working conditions (e.g., noise, yelling, dust, bodily fluids, etc.).
Salary

Starting salary $80,000 annually.
