Job summary

Active AAPC certification is required; additional coding certifications are preferred.

Qualifications

• 1 year of direct billing or collections experience in healthcare or insurance.
• Completion of medical billing and coding course and CPT/ICD-10 experience.
• Active AAPC certification required; additional coding certifications preferred.

Responsibilities

• Coordinate with front-desk staff and practice managers to ensure accurate patient registration in the practice management system.
• Review provider documentation for billing audits and communicate errors or missing information to providers.
• Code physician charges with modifiers and diagnoses to ensure accurate billing.
• Create and submit clean claims in line with policies and procedures.
• Stay up to date on CMS, CPT, and AMA regulations.
• Review open encounter and inpatient note reconciliation reports and resolve issues.
