Job summary

Persistent Systems Limited in Charlotte, NC seeks an IaC Developer to design and implement self-service infrastructure using Terraform modules and custom providers. You will build orchestration workflows with Temporal, extend tooling in Go/Java, and integrate with ServiceNow, while enforcing guardrails and policy-as-code.

The role requires 3–4 years in infrastructure or platform engineering, with 1 year building production-grade Terraform modules.

Responsibilities

• Design, build, and maintain reusable Terraform modules and providers.
• Develop a named IaC service catalog including VM provisioning, DNS/CNAME, OCP/Kubernetes namespaces, AVI load balancers, Redis, and AWS SNS.
• Build and operate workflow orchestration using Temporal or equivalent.
• Develop platform tooling in Go or Java to extend IaC capabilities.
• Integrate provisioning workflows with ServiceNow APIs and CMDB sync.
• Establish guardrails and policy-as-code for compliant provisioning.
• Utilize Ansible for configuration management alongside Terraform.
• Build CI/CD pipelines for IaC modules using GitHub Actions or Harness.
• Contribute to the self-service portal frontend for infrastructure requests.

About Position

The Infrastructure-as-Code (IaC) platform serves as a self-service layer enabling application teams to provision compute, network, container, and load-balancing resources efficiently. As an IaC Developer, you will be responsible for designing and building reusable Terraform modules, orchestration workflows, and guardrails that ensure fast, safe, and consistent infrastructure provisioning at an enterprise scale.

What You'll Do

• Design, build, and maintain reusable Terraform modules and custom Terraform providers for self-service infrastructure provisioning.
• Develop a named IaC service catalog, including offerings for VM provisioning, DNS/CNAME records, OCP/Kubernetes namespaces, AVI load balancers, Redis, and AWS SNS.
• Build and operate workflow orchestration using Temporal or an equivalent engine to coordinate multi-step, long-running infrastructure provisioning workflows.
• Develop platform tooling and integrations in Go or Java to extend the IaC platform's capabilities beyond raw Terraform execution.
• Integrate provisioning workflows with ServiceNow APIs for request intake, approvals, and CMDB synchronization, adhering to the organization's governance processes.
• Establish guardrails and policy-as-code to prevent non-compliant infrastructure provisioning.
• Utilize Ansible for configuration management workflows alongside Terraform-based provisioning.
• Build CI/CD pipelines for IaC modules using GitHub Actions or Harness.
• Contribute to the self-service portal front-end to enable application teams to request and manage infrastructure without manual tickets.
• Implement drift detection and automated state reconciliation to maintain alignment between deployed infrastructure and its declared IaC state.
• Extend provisioning modules to cover messaging infrastructure and VMware-based network resources.
• Contribute to Workflow/Orchestration Studio design and build, and to AaC-to-IaC generation pipelines.
• Develop adoption metrics and dashboards to track self-service usage, provisioning lead time, and platform ROI.

Mandatory Skills

• Hands-on experience developing reusable Terraform modules and custom Terraform providers.
• Strong infrastructure domain knowledge across compute, network, OpenShift/Kubernetes, and load balancing.
• Configuration management experience with Ansible.
• Experience with workflow orchestration platforms such as Temporal or equivalent.
• Proficiency in Go or Java for platform/tooling development.
• CI/CD experience with GitHub Actions, Harness, or similar tools.
• Experience integrating provisioning workflows with Ticketing Tool ServiceNow.
• Demonstrated experience in building guardrails and policy enforcement for infrastructure provisioning.

Preferred Skills

• Front End development experience for self-service portals.
• Experience with drift detection and automated state reconciliation.
• Hashicorp Vault integration experience for provisioning workflows.
• Exposure to AaC-to-IaC generation pipelines and Workflow/Orchestration Studio tooling.
• Experience building adoption metrics and dashboards for platform usage.
• Terraform certification or equivalent expertise.
