Job summary

Deckers Outdoor Corporation is seeking an experienced Maintenance Technician III in Mooresville, NC. The role focuses on skilled and semi-skilled maintenance, troubleshooting and preventive work on heavy industrial equipment, conveyors and electrical systems up to 480 volts, with project work and mentorship duties.

You will read schematics, work with AC/DC controls and PLCs, and document activities in a CMMS.

Qualifications

• Proven track record of strong mechanical and electrical troubleshooting.

Responsibilities

• Perform skilled and semi-skilled facility maintenance including patching and painting walls, floors, lighting, and office setups.
• Troubleshoot, repair and perform preventive maintenance on conveyor equipment.
• Document labor, parts and inventory in work orders for records.
• Follow lockout-tagout, confined space and safety policies.
• Read technical manuals, schematics and blueprints to guide work.
• Operate with high/low voltage AC/DC systems and PLC controlled equipment.
• Lead small projects and train lower-grade colleagues.
• Enter data into the CMMS and track work orders.

Job Title: Maintenance Technician III

Reports to: Maintenance Assistant Manager

Schedule: Mon-Fri 6:00 AM - 2:30 PM

The Role

The Maintenance Tech IIperforms a variety of skilled and semi-skilled maintenance, modification and repair activities in assigned maintenance operational areas which may include buildings, conveyors, electrical and performs related work as required. The job will entail preventative maintenance, troubleshooting and repair of heavy industrial manufacturing equipment and facilities. This position will be working with AC/DC controls, PLC controlled equipment, pneumatics and with voltage of up to 480 volts. Manage minor projects. Provide training to lower grade levels.

Your Impact

The primary functions of this role, include but are not limited to:

Under minimal supervision perform skilled and semi-skilled facility maintenance activities including patching and painting walls, patching floors, replacing lights, repair racking, office furniture moves, and setups and other facilities related tasks.

Under minimal supervision perform skilled and semi-skilled maintenance activities to include troubleshooting, repair and preventive maintenance on conveyor equipment.

Document all work order activities including labor, parts and inventory used and closing of work orders to provide documented records of the maintenance performed.

Follow lockout-tag out procedures, confined space procedures and other safety and environmental procedures and policies as required.

Who You Are

Ability to read and comprehend technical manuals, schematics and blueprints

Knowledge of mechanical and electrical drawings

Ability to work with high and low voltage, AC and DC

Proven track record of strong mechanical and electrical troubleshooting

Complete pass down logs to inform co-workers of the operational status of the facilities.

Troubleshoot and repair controls, process controllers, control cabinets, power supplies and all other field devices associated with the conveyor system.

Use system software to troubleshoot, trend and monitor conveyor equipment.

Develop and implement innovative ideas to increase productivity and/or reliability.

Enter data in the computerized maintenance management system.

Perform minor electrical work such as running conduit and pulling wire.

Perform analytical tests on the various conveyor systems and document results.

Knowledge of Automatic Identification systems (Laser Scanning Devices)

Experience working effectively under the pressure of competing and sometimes conflicting priorities

Regarded as a system expert in at least one area (i.e. Pick Module, VAS, Shipping Sorter)

Highly motivated, a team player and a self-starter

Work as a team member by interacting and communicating with co-workers and managers in a cooperative constructive manner

Demonstrated leadership skills with the ability to positively influence others

Strong project planning and project management skills

Demonstrated ability to expedite several projects simultaneously

Knowledge of OSHA compliance is a plus

Conversational Spanish skills a plus

Working knowledge of Microsoft Excel spreadsheets

Experience in using Microsoft Outlook and Word programs

Multi-task in a fast-paced work environment that has a strong customer focus
