Job description

STS Technical Services is hiring A&P Technicians in Macon, Georgia.

Job Description:

Examines, repairs, assembles, and tests aircraft accessories, such as engines, power brake units, auxiliary electric motors, carburetors, spark igniters, valves, pumps, fuselage, wings, and oil and fuel tanks, using hand tools and testing devices, following shop orders and manufacturer's specifications.

Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Performs routine inspections or special maintenance to prevent failures of aircraft mechanical systems and components; performs complete operations checks on hydraulic systems, pneumatic systems, plumbing, precision assemblies, rigging, and controls.
  • Determines when a component should be repaired or replaced; decides upon necessary repair scheme, quantity, and type of parts needed; secures necessary parts from stores or departmental supplies.
  • Repairs, reworks, and modifies worn or defective assemblies, making alterations or changes to units when necessary.
  • Follows approved maintenance procedures, consulting FAA-approved internal procedures, OEM's technical data, and work package instructions.
  • Consults the Maintenance Lead for technical assistance during repairs.
  • Inspects completed work before sign-off to identify rework needs; performs rework; ensures repaired components meet standards and tolerances.
  • Performs serviceability tests on repaired components/systems using specified test equipment.
  • Completes work package documentation after operations, signing/stamping as required.
  • Submits work for review and final inspection to Quality Assurance for airworthiness certification.
  • Provides performance statistics and operational data to supervisors as requested.
  • Properly accounts for time and materials used in all activities.

Qualifications:

Education:

  • High School/GED
  • A&P License

Experience:

  • Required: A & P License; 2-5 years' experience with small aircraft/general aviation, trained on one aircraft type; proficient with aircraft systems.
  • Extensive depot-level aircraft maintenance and repair experience, including mechanical systems, hydraulics, pneumatics, plumbing, and rigging; proficiency with OEM technical data and power tools.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:

  • Basic knowledge of technical areas; ability to learn quickly and perform moderately complex technical tasks.
  • Assists senior technicians with complex tasks.
  • Knowledge of tools, repair, troubleshooting, and maintenance procedures.
  • Understanding of FAA requirements and ability to interpret work instructions.

Working Conditions / Environment / Special Requirements:

  • Ability to work safely, adhering to OSHA, EPA, and other regulations.
  • Must be able to wear a respirator if required.
  • Flexible hours and shifts may be necessary.
  • Subject to FAA-mandated drug and alcohol testing.
