Bristow Special Mission seeks an experienced A&P Mechanic (Line Maintenance) at its Corporate Headquarters in San Marcos, TX to perform scheduled and unscheduled maintenance on our aircraft to keep them safe, airworthy, and mission-ready.

The role involves line maintenance, troubleshooting, inspections, repairs, and flight-line activities in compliance with FAA regulations and company procedures. A&P certification and 18+ months Part 135 experience are required.

Qualifications

  • Valid FAA A&P certificate required.
  • Experience with Embraer EMB-120, Dash 8-200, King Air 300, or Twin Otter preferred.
  • Minimum 18 months of maintenance experience under 14 CFR Part 135.
  • Experience with electrical and avionics troubleshooting is preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Performs aircraft launch and recovery for scheduled/unscheduled flights.
  • Performs scheduled/unscheduled maintenance, inspections, servicing, troubleshooting, and repairs.
  • Maintains aircraft washing, corrosion prevention, and related tasks.
  • Documents maintenance, inspections, repairs, and parts turnover per FARs and company procedures.
  • Mentors other maintenance personnel and participates in required trainings.

Purpose

The A&P Mechanic (Line Maintenance) is responsible for performing scheduled and unscheduled maintenance on company-operated aircraft to ensure aircraft are maintained in a safe, airworthy, and mission-ready condition. This position performs line maintenance, troubleshooting, inspections, repairs, and aircraft launch and recovery activities in accordance with Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) regulations, company policies and procedures, and applicable maintenance requirements.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
  • Performs aircraft launch and recovery activities for scheduled and unscheduled flights.
  • Performs scheduled and unscheduled maintenance, inspections, servicing, troubleshooting, and repairs on assigned aircraft.
  • Performs general aircraft maintenance, including aircraft washing and corrosion prevention and control activities.
  • Completes maintenance tasks as assigned by the Maintenance Supervisor, Lead Mechanic, or other authorized maintenance leadership.
  • Accurately documents maintenance, inspections, repairs, and other work performed in accordance with applicable Federal Aviation Regulations (FARs), company procedures, and maintenance documentation requirements.
  • Completes required documentation for parts removal, installation, and turn-in.
  • Assists other maintenance personnel with aircraft maintenance, troubleshooting, inspections, and repairs as required.
  • Maintains clean and orderly work areas and follows established housekeeping and foreign object damage (FOD) prevention practices.
  • Complies with company requirements for the accountability, control, and proper use of tools, equipment, and aircraft parts.
  • Provides on-the-job training and technical assistance to other maintenance personnel as assigned.
  • Attends required training and actively participates in on-the-job training to maintain and expand aircraft knowledge and technical proficiency.
  • May temporarily perform Lead Mechanic or supervisory responsibilities in the absence of assigned personnel when designated by the Director of Maintenance.
  • May be required to obtain and maintain Required Inspection Item (RII) authorization as determined by the Director of Maintenance.
  • Complies with all applicable safety requirements, company policies, maintenance procedures, and regulatory requirements.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Current and valid FAA Airframe and Powerplant (A&P) Mechanic Certificate.
Preferred Education and Experience
  • Maintenance experience with Embraer EMB-120, Dash 8-200, King Air 300, and/or Twin Otter aircraft.
  • Associate's or bachelor's degree in aviation maintenance, aviation technology, or a related field.
  • Experience with electrical and avionics troubleshooting.
  • Experience performing aircraft structural repairs.
  • Minimum of 18 months of aircraft maintenance experience supporting operations conducted under 14 CFR Part 135.
  • Minimum of 18 months of maintenance experience on similar aircraft.
Physical Requirements
  • Ability to perform the physical functions associated with aircraft maintenance and inspection activities.
  • Ability to stand, walk, bend, stoop, kneel, crouch, climb, reach, and work in confined or restricted spaces for extended periods.
  • Ability to climb ladders, stands, and aircraft access equipment as required.
  • Ability to use hand tools, power tools, and aircraft maintenance equipment.
  • Ability to lift, carry, push, and pull up to 50 pounds.
  • Ability to perform repetitive motions and maintain physical positions necessary to inspect, service, repair, and maintain aircraft.
Work Environment
  • Work is performed in hangars, on aircraft ramps, and in other aviation maintenance environments.
  • May be exposed to aircraft noise, moving mechanical equipment, fumes, oils, fuels, solvents, and other materials commonly associated with aircraft maintenance operations.
  • May be required to work outdoors and in varying weather and environmental conditions.
  • Must be able to use required personal protective equipment (PPE) and comply with applicable safety procedures.
  • May be required to work varying schedules, including nights, weekends, holidays, overtime, or on-call periods based on operational requirements.
  • May be required to travel to off-site locations for temporary duty assignments or road trips based on operational requirements.
